On May 20, the U.S. National Public Radio (NPR) cited an internal U.S. State Department cable reporting that the U.S. government is pressuring the Palestinian side to withdraw the application of Palestinian UN representative Mansour for the position of Vice President of the UN General Assembly, or else the visas of the Palestinian UN delegation will be revoked.

According to the report, the cable stated that Mansour "has repeatedly accused Israel of committing genocide," and his candidacy "has heightened tensions," undermining U.S. President Trump's "Gaza peace plan." At the same time, the cable mentioned that the U.S. State Department lifted visa sanctions on members of the Palestinian UN delegation in September 2025, and added, "It would be regrettable if any feasible plan had to be reconsidered."

Mansour has consistently called for peace at the UN meetings. On May 28, 2025, at the UN Security Council, when talking about the tragic experiences of children in Gaza, Mansour once angrily pounded the desk in grief, choked up and cried, finding it difficult to continue speaking.

Nearly 100 ships and about 1,000 participants from the Global Flotilla of Resilience took part in this new mission, aiming to bypass Israeli controls to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. However, this humanitarian operation failed. Israel arrested a large number of members in international waters.

According to videos released by Israeli media, far-right Israeli Minister of National Security, Benjamin Gvir, went to an Israeli port to film members of the 'Global Flotilla of Resilience' who had been detained by Israel.

Footage from the scene shows several people with their hands tied behind their backs, being forced by Israel to kneel on the ground. Meanwhile, far-right Israeli Minister of National Security Benjamin Gvir provocatively stated, 'Welcome to Israel, we are the owners here (in Gaza).

Spain is stepping up as the SYMBOL OF A TRULY HUMANITARIAN COUNTRY in the world right now.

Spanish MEP Irene Montero directly confronted EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas. She called out what many see as clear double standards after Israel intercepted a Gaza-bound flotilla and detained European activists for more than 24 hours.

Montero did not hold back. She asked point-blank why the EU remained silent on this… while questioning what the bloc’s reaction would have been if Russia or Iran had carried out the same operation in the Mediterranean. She described the activists as European citizens who were essentially kidnapped, and pressed Kallas on why there was no strong unified response.

This exchange comes as Kallas herself admitted the EU lacks a clear, cohesive strategy for the Middle East, calling the region too complex. Yet Montero’s stand highlights something deeper… a growing frustration with selective outrage and inconsistent principles in international affairs.

Spain, through voices like Montero, continues to push for accountability, humanitarian access, and fairness, even when it means challenging powerful allies. In a time when many nations stay quiet or pick sides based on politics, Spain’s willingness to speak up for detained civilians and question double standards feels refreshing to millions watching.

This moment reminds us why principled diplomacy still matters. Spain is showing the world what it looks like to prioritize humanity over convenience.
