In an unprecedented scene within the American military establishment
A number of military pilots refused to carry out orders to fly planes loaded with weapons and ammunition heading to Israel
In protest against the continuing bloody war in the Gaza Strip and the civilian casualties and catastrophic humanitarian effects it has left behind.
According to activists and alternative media, the pilots insisted on their rejectionist stance
Considering that their participation in these operations means their direct involvement in a war that many describe as "genocide" against the Palestinian people.
This position shocked decision-making circles in Washington, as it reflects the extent of the growing division even within the heart of the military establishment.
Informed sources indicated that the pilots were quickly summoned to the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense (Pentagon)
They were interrogated before being forcibly arrested, handcuffed, and then transferred to special military prisons.
This step was widely condemned by human rights activists, who considered that what happened reflected
"To suppress freedom of conscience and reject any dissenting voice within the military."
The incident comes amid increasing international pressure on the administration of US President Donald Trump
Washington faces unprecedented criticism for its open military support for Israel, while humanitarian bleeding continues in Gaza.
It also coincides with the escalation of popular protests in American and European cities
Protesters are demanding an end to arms exports to Israel and sanctions on Tel Aviv.
Observers believe that what happened represents a remarkable turning point
It opens the door to deep questions about the US administration's ability to maintain the unity of the army
At a time of growing popular and official anger over the policy of unconditional support for Israel.
