I would actually say the west in the recent 10 years have become somewhat less islamophobic after Obama ended the “War against terror” McCarthyism of Bush. India otoh went the opposite direction.

From a Western perspective, Islamophobia is a euphemism for Muslim-majority countries that do not bow to US's hegemony based on a "vision for world peace and freedoms and democracy".

"Islamophobia" only reduced recently because more of the major Sunni countries in the Middle East signed those Abrahamic accords deals, or/and accepted US's agenda (including Israels part in it) for their region.

What happened on the 7th was wrong no doubt but it is understandable when constantly children and women are being killed by snipers - there is an apartheid state where if you are Muslim - you have limitations on food etc - eventually the victim fights back and then the bully cries murder.

October 7, 2023 was a desperate act of resistance. There may have been a few--just a few rogue elements who broke the rules of decent conduct and they could have been identified and duly punished but the thrust of the invasion was about taking as many hostages as possible and killing as many IDF soldiers as possible. Plus it needs to be understood that potentially most able bodied Israelis are IDF soldiers. Just because it was a woman didn't mean she couldn't kill 10 innocent Palestinian using an assault rifle in a few seconds.
The built up to the October 7 attack was well known and Hamas had given plenty of warnings over the previous few years to Israel to stop desecrating the Muslim holy places, stop displacing the Palestinians, stop killing the Palestinians in the West Bank. Hundreds of Palestinians were killed in the years leading to October 7.
Let's not be too apologetic about it in the spirit of 'peace'. Had October 7 not happened, the question of 'Palestine' wouldn't be raised again in our lifetime.

Netanyahu is taking a chance. He knows that Israel cannot sustain the hitherto ongoing War of Attrition while the Resistance can. He knows that Americans won't jump in unless Israel's very existence is under threat or there would be mass civilian casualties in Israel. This vile guy has not only figured that out but also knows that this is the right time to start a full fledged war to drag the Americans in with both parties unable to do much during the election cycle.
So, yes, Netanyahu is rolling the dice. But it is not Israel to watch out for: It is the Americans to watch out for: Would the Americans jump in?? They don't want to but then AIPAC is their God.
