According to John Mearsheimer, contrary to Israeli and Western propaganda, Israel lost in Gaza:

1) Hamas is not destroyed

2) Gaza is not occupied and Philadelphia Corridor is not under Israeli control

3) Hezbollah is not destroyed, it is well and is still well armed - 150.000 Israeli citizens still cant return to the north

4) Israel suffered its own casualties in the Gaza War

5) While Israel was fighting in Gaza, Iran has become a nuclear threshold state - on the verge of building nuclear weapons

6) The genocide of the Palestinians did enormous damage to Israeli reputation across the world....Time will pass and people will reflect on what Israel has done in Gaza and will write articles and books on the genocide of the Palestinians and this will not be good for Israeli reputation.

The only victory for Israel is the collapse of the Assad regime in Syria and difficulties Iran will face supplying Hezbollah. But even despite this Mearsheimer believes Iran will be able to supply Hezbollah with weapons.

This is the new and going trope because quislings have been thoroughly appropriated in to a secular paradigm. Remember some of them used religion to come to power and exported when appropriate and now retracting.
They no longer feel it viable going forward and therefore rue any voices outside particularly critical of them and their role in the region.
