FM: China supports plan to restore peace in Gaza initiated by Egypt and other Arab countries
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Friday that China supports the plan to restore peace in Gaza initiated by Egypt and other Arab countries.The Gaza Strip belongs to the Palestinian people and is an integral part of the Palestinian territories, Wang said at a press conference on the sidelines of the ongoing annual session of the National Legislative Assembly, adding that attempts to change the status of Gaza by force will not bring peace and will only lead to new chaos.Wang called for efforts to promote a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire, increase humanitarian assistance, observe the principle of "Palestinians govern Palestine" and contribute to the reconstruction of Gaza.The Foreign Minister pointed out that the Palestinian issue has always been the core of the Middle East issue, and called on the international community to focus more on the two-state solution and provide more support for the establishment of an independent state for Palestine.Wang said that all Palestinian factions need to fulfill the Beijing Declaration to achieve unity and self-strengthening, all parties in the Middle East need to overcome divisions to support the Palestinian state, and the international community needs to build consensus and promote peace between Palestine and Israel."We will continue to resolutely strive for justice, peace and development for the people of the Middle East," Wang said.
