JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

JF-17 modernised version like block 3 has a great market potential for small countries and airforces looking to replace their decades old F-5, Mig-21, and trainer/fighters like M-345 and Hawk. Some airforces also want modern 4.5 gen fighter that is not western dependent and inexpensive.

JF-17 block 3 is less than a third the price of a Gripen E/F and PL-15 is a performance match of Meteor.

Hope Pakistan can turn JF-17 into more of an export success. It's actually quite a unique position since there are no affordable 4.5 gen fighters outside of Mig-35 which is sort of incomplete. So it's only real competitor is Korean/American FA-50 but that is fraught with political strings.

I do it in English too on this podcast.

any Idea why we are not producing more Block 3's ? we still have 150-200 oldie jets to replace.

Reasons could be :

a) No money?
b) Prefer to get more J10CE.
c) Waiting for J-35AE as they feel they have the IAF 'covered' for now ?
d) investing in PFX-Alpha ie Block IV that they want to purchase instead.
e) Need more cash as the coffers are running dry, so focus is on foreign sales.

A bit of each maybe.

Maybe if one of the deals actually goes through we might be able to make enough money for 1+ sq of JFblk3, I mean J-10CE is good but we also need to replace those baba Adam ke zamaane ke Mirage and F-7PGs and once we do that we are left with a lot less fighters than what we need.

I don't know if View attachment 172408 articles are considered as "Articles" at all. What is interesting are the comments by Members, that seem to vanish after 24hrs.

I took the liberty of taking a screenshot of the 9 Comments.

Clearly the individual who wrote this piece is frustrated that the JF-17 is getting so much attention by a number of Nations in less than a month and I suppose all that can be attributed to is the f-up of their: Operation Tandoor

I take it the Author is upset why no Nation (even a 3rd Class one like Armania and/or Philippines) is not interested in their TEJAs
