JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

Is this message intended for Pakistanis living in Brooklyn? What's up with that music?

Absolutely hate these idiitic copy and paste movies and then even more idiotic heavy mental music which have absolutely nothing to do what so ever with the content of the video …. We have a member here who specializes in making these cringeworthy videos when he is not pumping gas .

I think people underestimate the lifespan of the blk 1s. Yes the airframe is not good at all and designed for only 20-25 years service but we have kept similar lifespan mirages in service for 60 years now and jf-17 is platform we designed and built and have full knowledge on. I dont think it will be that hard or costly to extend service via SLEP or otherwise. I dont think its a good idea or realisticaly possible to upgrade them to full blk 3 standard but imo blk 1 airframes will remain in service till mid 2030s atleast out of pure neccesity
they had more knowledge of the Mirage 3 then we do of the JF-17, like others have said before PAC has regressed since the Rose program, that program was genuinely impressive because not only did it give new life to a completely obsolete aircraft but those Same aircraft are still flying with a relatively good safety record

Beyond that completely new systems for the Rose were built locally something that still hasn't done with the JF-17.

Hell if the JF-17 hadn't happened they could have probably built a completely new 4th gen Fighter based on the Mirage 3.

Woah there buddy. We didn't build nothing for the ROSE program, they were all license production and purchases from Western countries. Maybe radio or a few internal components, but every major electronic and avionic component were not of Pakistani origins nor were manufactured here. Compared that to the JF-17, where we actually worked on the avionic and sensor suite with China. However low it may be, the fact is that we have far more extensive knowledge of the airframe and internal components compared to any Mirage in the ROSE program. Regressed? Sure, but it's more like not kept up and fallen behind. We still have a deeper understanding of the JF-17 program, simply because we worked on it. It is assembled in Kamra, hence Kamra knows the weak points of every bolt.

Seriously, I don't like the music choices in most of these fan made videos and also the desi songs ISPR ones.

Is this true that Pakistan no longer operates any JF-17 Thunders in their original Block-1 configuration?

@Quwa , @Ak01 , @JamD , and others please.

All that was done purely out of desperation. Is Pakistan desperate today?

No.

@AeronautIR there was a squadron that was supposed to convert Jf-17 since the picture of 25-342 was released. Do we know now?

I don't think so. There is no upgrade path from block 1 to block 2 as far as I know.
what are the main differences? is it not structurally identical? i know the radars etc are very mildly different and probably could just be brought up to similar standards with backend changes etc

Dont blk 2s use composites in more places and are lighter airframes as a result?

Yang Wei cites a 6400kg empty weight for the Block 1, i believe the general numbers lie between 6400-6550 for all the blocks, the discrepancy being the higher weight of the block 2b, the addition of new systems onboard block 3, but the most likely culprit, just general PAC retardation and the intern making the datasheets looking for numbers on google as opposed to official ones.

I remember on the PAC website, the Block 3 was weighing a ton more than the previous Block 1s and 2s. Something around 8 tons but its apparently way less?
