JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

I call bullshit on everything Reuters has said.

None of the news is legit as far as I know, I think one was sort of realistic but other than that the rest are nonsense

whoever wrote this tweet is full of BS. no technical, or even real info just geopolitical bias. The guy even don't know that KSA do not operate F-35s.

"Gifted full combat fleet of Pakistani fleet" LOL! As if its kid toys, you can't just gift squadrons in an instant, takes years in manufacturing / production.. Then you need training & logistics. Sudan has zero pilots right now qualified to fly JF-17s. BTW, in midst of civil war the fighter aircraft is least of sudan's priority. Most sensible option for them is it invest in drones, IFVs and land warfare stuff.

Bottomline, Sudan is not getting JF-17s in any real world scenario (only getting lots of those in twitter gossips)

If PAC can come up with a structural life extension program. Heck let's say CATIC. Then certainly yes. Remember that the first block 1 entered service in 2007 and as far as we know there is no program to extend its structural life. If we do the dangerous thing and pawn off airframes without structural life to desperate air forces (who will have bad maintenance practices on top of this) we will see a stupid amount of unavailability and crashes. Don't think we want that kind of publicity.

It's easy to license assembly fighters
It's easier to made to order a fighter to your specific requirements to a massive aerospace power like jf17
Pakistan funded china built it at continues to upgrade it for you

Sometimes I feel india should have done the same paid France or Russia to build Indian specific fighter
India already paid France shit tons of money to make F3 Rafale to India standard which they called F3*........and still ended up buying inferior to what Pakistan pulled from China i.e. J-10.

India's procurement tactics are as good or bad as their airforce tactics......

Seems more like an inherent indian problem.

Not saying it’s actually true but unless Saudi deal is a deal including manufacturing and tech transfer I don’t get why they would want the jf 17 yes guys great plane at an affordable price but Saudis usually like to buy fancy looking but inferior models that Israel has it would be nice if reports are true Pakistan turkey and Saudis are up to something
