JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

At the inseption of the jet, that was the best engine available. PAC has lots of experience with the engine now n has good maintenance facilities now available in house.
Plus kilomov has done lots of work over time has worked well with PAC to improve the engine over time.
It would be foolish to let go off all that PAC has bult over the decades.
Hence the reason why PAC haven't gone for the Chinese engine or any other for thst matter
Kelimov hasn't worked with PAC at all, The RD 93 MRO at PAC isn't even a licensed one and was setup with the help of the Ukrainians, JF-17 will have a Chinese engine and they will ditch the RD 93.

ISPR peddled propaganda. Didn't buy it then, called nay sayer back then. Look at facts in hindsight. An attempt at fake it till you make it marketing. Unfortunately, that's not how international defence contracts are signed.
The JF-17 series jets are priceless for Pakistan in terms that: there is no kill-switch, no surveillance recording nor any kind of key-logging to keep taps on what Pakistan is doing, as is the case with an Efsola or any other Western imports for example which even keeps logs of the pilot's weight etc.

These freedoms alone make the JF-17 a truly priceless jet.

Exports will occur eventually once you're churning these out Ford T series style.

The focus now should be an engine, manufactured by a local-international conglomerate, which is on the minds of the planners, hopefully.

One can build a large industry around the JF17 series, much larger than the one Pakistan has currently. Good governance and political stability results in a law based society which eventually leads to exports too.

Time is not far when Pakistan will export jets like it exports mangoes. The only issue is governance. Fix that, and watch miracles happen.

Ukraine did not establish the RD-93 MRO facility in Pakistan. Instead, PAC did it with Chinese help. PAC dosent interact with Russia directly due to the fear of CAATSA
PAC did seek Ukrainian expertise and assistance to service its RD-93. But it did not go far due to the war. Plus, Ukraine, being the Ukrainians they are, wanted an arm n a leg to do so.
Kilomov does work with PAC as the engine has seen gradual improvements in performance and output. This was all done by the input and analysis provided by PAC.
