In reality, the JF-17 simply cannot take advantage of the PL-15's 200-kilometer range. The JF-17's lock-on range against typical fighter-sized targets is only 150 kilometers, whereas the J-10C, by comparison, has a lock-on range of 240 kilometers.

It's just over 170kms for klj7A not 150.

I know how AEWACS works and what is their functioning. I was questioning the need for them. Because Armenia at its widest point is just 170 km wide. JF17B3 radar have range of 150 km. Do azerbaijan really need to spend $2 billion of 4 AEWACS which will be flying not far than 50-100 km away from its JF17s ? Because even Azerbaijan is a small country with no major depth for aewacs.

They dont really need to buy AWACs. There are ground radars too which can feed data through the data link.
