JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

Fly like its ment to flown ....by the seat of ur pants.......flying fast ac is mostly instinct....that's wt separates aces from pilots
Its a flight demo where u need to convince ur prospective buyers by showing them how much better ur product is from the others.....
The whole routine was lathergic to so the least, which as we know is nothing to do with the ac as we have seen it perform outstandingly again n again but it all to do with the pilot
It’s too simplistic to assume that - depending upon weather and other conditions displays are changed.

No information, just my guess that JF-17Cs order should go up to atleast 60 aircrafts

As these are already replacing Mirages of No.8 Squadron and perhaps will also replace the ones in No.7 Squadron. Plus "Tigers" squadron of F-7PGs should be replaced in due course too.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and its my opinion that J-35 is going to be an aircraft with very high price tag, PAF would only be able to induct in very small numbers. J-10Cs order until 2030 is only 25 or 36 airframes at most. (There was a document shared earlier in this forum which described payment plan that was till 2029 if I am not wrong for ~25 aircrafts, unable to find document rn.). This means PAF will rely mostly on JF-17s. This makes sense too because of economic output, existing payment plans, and plus there's no 5th gen threat from IAF till next 10 years or so.

Further more, PAF's secret "PFX" program likely revolves around JF-17 block IIIs, (It could be a block IV with more indigenous components as PAF had stated it as "Jf-17 PFX" in one of slides). To me this indicates that PAF will focus on JF-17s platform and more numbers of block IIIs, IV/PFX will be inducted.
Agreed.

In fact, given the general advancement of radar, avionics, and munitions tech, I think the PAF will see diminishing returns jumping between different platforms.

The gap between the JF-17C and F-7P is much, much wider than the J-10CE and JF-17C, or - IMO - between JF-17C and J-35A. Yes, the J-35A is a stealth fighter and can carry a higher-powered electronics set, but nowadays, fighters share most fundamentals, such as AESA radar, HMD/S, integrated EW/ECM, etc.

The PAF is pursuing the J-35A for a very specific purpose: Swift Retort-type strike ops. The F-16s and Mirage ROSE are aging out, yet they played pivotal roles in the air-to-air + air-to-surface aspects of Swift Retort. IMO, the PAF wants to replace these platforms with J-35As and UCAVs (possibly Bayraktar Kizilelma) and form dedicated strike wings. These units (3-4 tops) will be the "tip of the spear" and focus on delivering strategic outcomes, like the way Swift Retort helped deescalate a war.

IMO, the missing opportunity here is leveraging the JF-17Cs for combined arms maneuvers. With munitions like the LD-10 ARM, GB6 JSOW, and homegrown AGMs, I think we could use the JF-17Cs can pair well with Army maneuvers.

I did not mention weather or any other condition.
Jawad is a pi$$ poor demo poloy

Including the 35, I make that almost bang on 10 squadrons at 18 birds each😉

Possibly less Sqds. As this bird is pretty much the backbone of PAF now expect a few examples being kept for testing/weapons integration at Kamra, the CCS Sqd and the OCU.

I think maybe just 8 dedicated combat Sqds

Bro, you are little too hard on the pilot. IMO, he did fine. T-50 / SU-57 is one of its kind in the world, its a very powerful 5th gen, super maneuverable fighter.

However, there's always room for improvement, can add perhaps different aerobatics. I remember JF-17s few years ago used to take off at very steep angle right after leaving runway (almost vertical). That became a trademark of Jeffs. That was very impressive and showed incredible climb rate. That should be included again. In addition, I think commentary needs to be improved as well lol. PAC can also improve their static display, websites, promotional videos and marketing content.

Commentary is definitely not their thing. You can see from 2:00 onwards that the Thunder driver is basically reading directly off something, without much enthusiasm for the demo.

That's what I also believe that the reason Jeff doesn't get much attention and respect (besides some shortcomings like engine and airframe quality) is because of its bad or lack of intent marketing and promotion.
