JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

Cracking down on members for nothing. Someone needs to calm the moderators down on this forum. They're acting like those overactive daala driving agents lately. Stop making a mockery of this forum.

A Gripen E/F costs nearly $100 million, while JF 17 Block 3 with the same capabilities costs around $40 million.......(flyaway costs).
for that amount of money, brazil might as well have gone for the f 35. Plus, with such exuberant cost not many AF, including brazil can hope to field that particular type in numbers......so it leaves the field open for a capable ac, which would be the workhorse of that AF.....this is where the JF 17 comes in.
infact the weapons package offered by the JF 17 is more comprehensive n complete when compared with gripen

JF-17 cleared for sale to Bajwa for his personal use.

Meeting between sidhu and Bajwa= JF-17 sold.

Can you guys give it a rest, brazil doesnt want JF-17. Some of you are as bad as the Tejas to the USN crowd...

IMO, a much bigger chance of Brazil wanting to collaborate with NESCOM on developing munitions together. Earlier, Brazil had banked on South Africa for the support, but a lot of the latter's talent went to UAE (EDGE Group), leaving the old partners (e.g., Pakistan, Brazil, etc) out.

If neither side bungles this, we could see some interesting stuff manifest, be it cruise missiles, guided rockets, AAMs, and so on. They have capacities we lack, and to varying degrees, know how to build capacity from scratch.

Now Uzbekistan makes more sense then Brazil,

It doesn't have too many enemies, it probably doesn't want to spend enormous amounts on jets double or triple the cost with capabilities similar to JF17

Is on good terms with Pakistan, China and Russia

Uzebekistan is exactly the type of export customer we should be targeting

It is also suffering from poor mig 29 availability.

Perfect kinda customer

Go back to the thread history and see for yourself, its you who had the itch to bring IK and PTI in this thread. Naïve you are, is all that I can say.
more nonsense and nothing else trying to avoid admitting you’re wrong - stay off this thread if you have nothing constructive to add.

What do you suggest be done? Allow baseless ideas that everyone on that delegation is an idiot?

Mockery is when people spout stupid statements regarding a speculative video which holds little value and then use it to say - hey see those ten individuals in there - all of them are idiots just because I say so.

Do you agree with that approach?

One thing people are ignoring about the MOU between Pakistan and Brasil is that from Pakistan's side it was signed by Secretary of Defence Production so I don't think it is related to export of any defense product from Pakistan

It stated on Brazil Airforce wiki they have only "6" Gripen Jets
Based on their resources and Land mass , they need 100+ planes to protect that region

Having been a founding member of BRICs , no doubt Brazil is eager to improve their airforce

It is a logical assumption that perhaps Brazil is eager to proceed with JF-17 as it is a prime export plane for China-Pakistan Engineering

Need to see formal announcement of course
(Only speculation at present)

6 Gripen @ $100 million per plane = 600 Million [Expensive]

They could have added 15 JF17 Block II for Same amount
Almost a full squadron, getting back same quality in return and Mission capabilities

The Workhorse role for Air Protection is best suited for JF 17 Block II

They need bare minimum 4-5 Squadron , bare minimum stationed in multiple airports (North/South /East/West / Central)

However may be it is just a general defense MOU focusing on may be Transport plane or Missiles

Please, give it a break. Brazil does not need, nor want jf-17s. They’d be better off keeping their F-5s…
