India’s ties with Russia have shifted. India has chosen to replace Russian military equipment with Western alternatives and has recently joined the Quad, a security grouping made up of the United States, Japan, and Australia which surely prompts Moscow to question India’s strategic motives. Meanwhile, Pakistan has seized this opening to deepen its relationship with Russia. We joined the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation with Russia’s endorsement, and Putin invited us to participate in the North–South Transport Corridor an initiative India perceived as a direct rival to CPEC. In addition, Russia has agreed to invest in the Karachi Steel Mills and plans to lay a gas pipeline between Karachi and Lahore. On the military front, we continue to conduct joint exercises and face no restrictions on acquiring Russian weaponry. I envision an even brighter and more expansive future ahead.

This is good for Pakistan!
The JF-17B3 itself needs a replacement engine. the RD-93 is no longer able to fulfill the requirements of the JF-17B3.
Pakistan can use this opportunity to test Russia's political decision making ability towards Pakistan.

China has two different engines that can power the JF17 ( WS-13/WS-21 and potentially the WS-19 when it matures ).

I would not be suprised if the entire JF17 fleet gets re-engined(when the RD-33 runs out of service life) with a Chinese engine where the JF17/J-35 fleets both share the same engine like the WS-19(or WS-21 depending on timelines). It will bring maintenance cost savings and operational flexibility and increase in capabilities due to better electrical power generation capabilities.

This is pointless theatrics and drama by India.

What about spare parts for current lot of JF 17 Thunder.

I am suggesting that the entire fleet gets upgraded, ie nothing is left behind on the RD-93 series of engines. Each JF17 is designed to operate 2 engines over its lifespan. The RD-93 series does not have a long service life, due in part to the PAF running them at higher thrust settings to get the required performance they need.

Joint Production , with China takes care of spare parts
Engine can be replaced , China did had deal with Russia for 1000+ Engines

JF-17 III have been using new Engine already

India has activated their Baniya Brigade , rona Dhona around world
Send them a box of tissue paper

However will China it self manage spare parts or Pakistan does has enough stock as it could hurt our export. I know no country would be able to accept demands like India is asking but in theory do we have any alternative plan for spare part as i think we will be near 180-190 units of JF 17 Thunder which was our main goal and if spare parts are arranged no worries.

All JF17 will be upgraded to Block III Standard
Program was started so we don't have any shortages of any parts

Pakistan was only waiting for Maturing of Russian or Chinese Engines

You also have to understand Pakistan has under 200 JF17s at the moment, add all the other countries and it's closer to 300

Its not a million

When it comes to spare parts you normally create a stock, that will last through the life time of the engine that is then utilised

The JF17 was also made so if we had supply problems we could change engines with limited issue

Yes know my issue is that is that Chinese Engine ready? However does anyone think that Russia would accept India request and sabotage relationship with Pak and China so that can stop to cry. China use that engine for J 31 as well which is 5th gen and produce more than JF 17.

Only some of the block 2 may be upgraded to Block 3

The original Block 1s were upgraded to block 2, but they have been heavily used for the last 18 or so years and the pressure on their structure will take its toll where it's not worth the upgrade and they will just be replaced by new build JF17s/PFX eventually

For all the talk of 5th gen fighters, J10, KAAN etc

The JF17 is actually a superb day to day fighter, that can be used to carry out daily tasks, caps, etc etc at a much more reduced cost
So fighters like J10, J35 can be used only in hard training and actual combat

It's one of the big positives of the JF17 and why I think it's worth pushing towards PFX even if it's just a increased indigenization of the plane
And I believe their is also a market in the world for JF17s/PFX for years to come for all the countries who are not interested in or unable to afford expensive 5th gen aircraft

I doubt Russia cares about India
