JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

second last line, "a new radar, new avionics and a more powerful engine"

Would all these things mean a different JF17 or would it still be classed as a Block 3

And would Pakistan get these new JF17s or would we continue to get the Block 3s we already have?

That description is of the Block 3 itself. Avionics and radar upgrade as well as a speculated engine upgrade.

all these three new things plus a host of other new things are part of JF17 Block III from day one.

This are Block III specifications. These are the new additions that make them Block III. Block II had older generation systems.

The engine upgrade to RDMA was also a part of Block III's original specs. Nothing new here, just a board confirming everything that should be in a block III.

Pakistan Air Force officially confirms integration of new engine with JF-17 Thunder

This blue board isn't confirming anything by the PAF. It is JUST listing out things that are in that plane. Technical specs for block III. Same things that were needed and added after the block II's to create a block III.

Free means free from sanctions. But concept of low cost is no more understandable with jf17 blk 3

Bread is 100 rupees and available in bakery. Roti is 30 rupees but not available in market.

What would you be able to buy ? In this situation price doesn't matter. Need of the commodity matters. If the 100 rupee bread serve your purpose you will still buy it even if it's 2.5 times expensive then roti.

I am not sure if I understand. Are we saying SU-30 or Mig-29 are such great platforms that they are in demand? The world has gotten away from Russian weapons. Middle Eastern, Far eastern countries, for example Philippines, Malaysia, and other nations, even in Africa and likes of Bangladesh have dropped further Russian weapons acquisition plans due to their poor performance, maintenance nightmare, etc.

Selling ability is great. It just means we have little to no enemies if we can sell to a broad range of nations.

Context matters.

My point was that doesn't matter how cheap you think SU-30 and Mig&29 is as compared to JF-17 block 3. People will still buy JF-17 because of market dynamics, geopolitics, and simple age old supply chain management.

Rd 93 ma is confirmed in block 3. What Benefit does 10kn boost to 92kn provide ?

  1. Extra Force , pushes the planes forward must faster
  2. Better Speed of plane to Catch up with Adversary or escape Adversary
  3. Better boost mean ability to take off with heavier weapon load
  4. More BVR missiles on wings
  5. More Air to Ground Bomb Load if mission is for Air to Ground strike
  6. The raw performance of the plane is better compared to older Engine
  7. The Radar /Avionics package can also be a bit more heavier
  8. Heavier body weight of unloaded plane the extra Engine power can allow you have more addition in plane body
  9. May be even enhanced fuel tanks carry more fuel , better mission endurance

I am not familiar with the Electric generation ability in JF17 or Jet Engine
but in Automobile , an alternator , connected to engine continuous generates the electricity.

Jet Engines also have a similar but more advance concept also relying on converting mechanical to electrical energy

Having a new Powerful Engine is a Big Deal for JF17 Block III

Only Bigger news would be if Pakistan's PFX , unveils a local Pakistani Engine with even better Performance benchmarks
