I think the best way forward for IAF would be keep adding Rafale's which is very good all-round fighter jet, upgrade su-30MKI to super Sukhoi, and keep working on your indigenous 5th Gen plattform. If my memory serves me right IAF has roughly 250ish Su30's ? now increasing numbers of Rafale to 200 across both Navy and Air force will be great idea, I think for IAF the best 5th Gen fighter jet can be a customized SU-57 from Russia, as they will be sanction free and customizable and India can integrate its own weapons and systems on it.

X numbers of Mirages
X numbers of Jaguars (Will get retired)

If u want to rely on an American engine than sure
Also there is zero chance u were ever offered or had chance to purchase f35s

Realistically only 5th gen u can buy is su57
