Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Terrorism Watch

Their movement was looked very weird to me. Why move in the open and take refuge in the mountains and not in the settled areas? Is it because local population of Karak does not tolerate them at all?
TTP usually doesn't take refuge in settlements. It's risky as someone might snitch on them. The do that only when they know the LEAs already know their locations or when the LEAs are closing in. Hiding in settlements then gives them human shields advantage.

Otherwise they keep to the hills etc to keep their movements and strength a secret from any on the ground spies in the villages. That allows them to conduct surprise attacks in different directions.

Learning and application are two different things. Billions can be spent on songs and dramas, training for airshows that eventually get cancelled, 658th Golf course and sailing club, 72672th housing society but when when someone asks for universal MRAP coverage atleast in contested areas, suddenly we are a poor country with no money for fuel for MRAPs.

The simple and bitter truth is that outside of functions for martyrs, the command does not care about losses. Never has. Never will.

What's astonishing is the lack of push from the bottom, COs of battalions and Brigades. Officers who have to serve in the combat zone and have to face troops everyday. I don't understand how it's just accepted as fate that we'd lose men to ambush and IEDs and there will be no outcry.

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN/BAJAUR: Two people were killed when an explosive device went off in the Sararogha tehsil of Upper South Waziristan district on Tuesday.

According to deputy commissioner Asmatullah Wazir, the incident occurred when local residents stumbled upon a suspicious object and attempted to handle it. The device exploded with a loud blast, killing two men on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Khan Baaz and Hijratullah.

The administration and security forces rushed to the site, cordoned off the vicinity, and launched an initial investigation. Police said efforts are under way to determine the nature of the device and trace its origin.

The deputy commissioner confirmed that the bodies were shifted to a local hospital, while authorities stepped up security patrols in the surrounding areas to prevent similar incidents.

Meanwhile, a shop was partially damaged and windows of others were shattered when an improvised explosive device exploded in Inayat Kallay Bazaar of Bajaur district on Monday night.

Local traders and police said on Tuesday that IED placed along Haji Mohammad’s shop in a market was detonated at around 9pm.

Terrorists struck again at the right to education in Lakki Marwat district, destroying a girls’ primary school in Ghazni Khel tehsil. Fortunately, there were no casualties, though the school building sustained heavy damage.

The explosion occurred Tuesday night in Pahar Khel Paka village, where unidentified attackers planted explosives inside the Government Girls’ Primary School.

The powerful blast reduced classrooms to rubble, rendering the facility unusable and spreading fear among local residents. Authorities confirmed the attack took place at night when the school was closed, preventing potential loss of lives.

Condemning the attack, officials said targeting girls’ schools was part of a broader attempt by terrorists to deprive children, particularly girls, of their constitutional right to education. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down those responsible.

In a separate incident, terrorists set fire to another school in the same locality, destroying furniture. However, residents managed to extinguish the blaze and save the building from complete destruction. Ghazni Khel police engaged the attackers in a gun battle, forcing them to flee.

During the exchange of fire, Constable Gul Rehman was injured and shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Tajazai. District Police Officer Nazir Khan led the operation.

Deputy Inspector General Bannu Region, Sajjad Khan, praised the police for their bravery. “The nefarious designs of terrorists will never be allowed to succeed,” he vowed, stressing continued vigilance to protect educational institutions, lives, and property.

Meanwhile, local communities urged the government to strengthen school security, warning that repeated attacks not only endanger children’s education but also threaten the broader social fabric of the region.
