November 22, 2024

Three terrorists were killed while two others were injured during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out by security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu District, the military’s media affairs wing said on Friday.

Facing a sharp uptick in the number of attacks targeting security forces and other law enforcement agencies, especially in KP and Balochistan, the state has intensified counterterrorism operations under Vision Azm-i-Istehkam.

According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted an IBO in Bannu District in the early hours of November 22 on the “reported presence of khwarij”.

“During conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged khwarij location, as a result of which, three khwarij were sent to hell while two khwarij got injured,” the statement read.

What exactly can the state do when everyone in those areas are savages

How is the state supposed to make the stupid and violent, sane?

Sometimes I genuinely don't understand what some of you expect the state to do

Even in the recent attack by one group of KP resident's on another group of KP residents

People began to claim Asim Munir ordered the attack, who can we deal with people this stupid and thick headed?

Sir,
Accept and Respect the Heritage and Culture of the area. Let the Jirga system resolve all problems of the tribal areas.
The Kurram incident was a sunni-shia issue but it was portrayed by our media as a terrorist attack (to fulfil politically motivated agenda) and unfortunately by some members of this board.
HST the tribal areas have been "infiltrated " by miscreants/terror cells and it is these people we need to go after not the people of the area who have been residing side by side for hundreds of years.
This is the biggest lacuna in our so-called terrorist policy.

The real lacuna is that the laws of the country are British hand-me-downs while the people are Muslims. Either they should hand over the government back to the British and Americans as they are much better administrators and provide better justice than the Kalay Angraiz or implement the Islamic rules in the country. If they implement the Islamic rules then all the fighting in the North West would cease immediately. The Tribal People liberated 1/3rd Kashmir in 1948 in the name of Islam and fought the Russians and the American also on that basis. Islam is a part of the culture and tradition. Their kinsmen, the Afghans have implemented Sharia and it is more successful than the obsolete British laws which are based on traditions and court judgements while the Islamic laws are based on divine commandments. The Islamic economic system is better than both the Capitalistic and Communist economic systems as it is without interest which saps the strength of the society.

That's ridiculous

Unless the law says everyone must have tea and biscuits at 4pm and salute the queen then why the hell would you disobey Pakistani laws

I'm sick of excuses for the backwardsness and violence coming out of these areas

What's worse is we are treating these idiots like lesser sub humans with lesser expectations,
"Oh they are tribals or course they are going to murder people and are unable to understand simple concepts or obey the rule of law, or course they are going to murder teachers and polio workers because this is their tribal jirga way"

We are going through days and weeks and months and years of endless atrocities happening In KP and Balochistan

You wake up and check the news and Oh they've killed 20 poor labourers, oh they've gunned down a polio team, or they've hit a school or suicide bombed a checkpoint

Animals, actual beasts would learn better and have better values and morals then the people living in these backwards regions

Peace efforts underway as 18 killed, 30 injured in fresh Kurram clashes

November 23, 2024

Efforts were underway on Saturday to restore peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram District as 18 more people were killed and another 30 injured in fresh clashes.

The violence follows Thursday’s deadly attack, when a convoy of around 200 vehicles came under heavy gunfire in Kurram’s densely populated Bagan town, killing at least 43 people and injuring 16 others.

The convoy was carrying passengers between Peshawar and Parachinar city, which is in Kurram, a district near the Afghanistan border with a history of sectarian violence and land disputes.

Kurram District Health Officer Dr Qaisar Abbas confirmed the casualties to Dawn.com, adding that nine patients would be referred to Peshawar by air ambulance as they were in serious condition.

Meanwhile, Kurram Deputy Commissioner (DC) Javedullah Mehsud said efforts were being made to re-establish peace in the area, reiterating yesterday’s statement.

DC Mehsud and Sajid Hussain Turi, a former PPP MNA from Kurram, confirmed to Dawn.com that a high-level meeting was underway in the district for peace efforts.

Turi, one of the meeting’s participants, said KP Inspector General (IG) Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur, Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry and government spokesperson Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif were also attending the meeting.

He lamented that the security provided to the convoy that was attacked was less than the required amount.

DC Mehsud said officials of security forces and local administration were attending the meeting convened at the DC Conference Hall.

“With the help of local elders, forces and the administration, peace will be established as soon as possible,” the official said. According to a Dawn.com correspondent, the two tribes involved in the dispute are Alizai and Bagan.

According to witnesses, the vehicles were ambushed from four sides. Muhammad, a 14-year-old survivor, told Dawn that the assault lasted around 30 minutes.

Authorities said that the victims included seven women and three children, with 16 others injured — 11 of whom are in critical condition.

Curfew imposed as forces move into Waziristan to contain militancy

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Curfew has been imposed in Shakai valley of Lower South Waziristan and Ladha tehsil of Upper South Waziristan from Saturday (today) for an indefinite period due to movement of security forces to overcome the growing incidents of militancy.

According to a notification issued from the office of Lower South Waziristan deputy commissioner Nasir Khan on Friday, the decision was taken due to unstable security situation prevailing in the region for the last several days.

He appealed to the people of Shakai for cooperation at this critical time, advising residents to stay indoors.

The security situation in the area has been tense for last several days with reports of targeted killing and terrorist activities in North Waziristan and both the Lower and Upper South Waziristan districts, the notification said.

The security forces are working to restore peace and stability in the area and curfew is imperative to ensure public safety, he said, adding the curfew would be lifted once the security situation improved.

It is worth mentioning here that militants attacked vehicles of Frontier Corps at Sara Pul Road in Shakai tehsil on Thursday.

The security forces retaliated by using mortars and artillery, forcing militants to flee the scene.

Similarly, a notification issued by Upper South Waziristan deputy commissioner Saleem Jan said that Ladha tehsil would be under complete lockdown due to the movement of security forces in the area.

“The curfew will be strictly enforced with a complete shutdown of all traffic, and residents are advised to stay indoors and not venture out of their homes. The security forces are working to ensure public safety, and the cooperation of the residents is greatly appreciated,” the notification said.

One cannot broadbrush the issue as some of us are doing. Go after the infiltrators and eliminate them. The result will be entirely different. It was done previously with the Rah-e-xxxx campaigns with rehabilitation and reconstruction of the areas.
The problem now is that the focus is somewhere else. Someone somewhere thinks throttling the social media will make things return to normal. They must be bullocks.
