I have worked for 5 years in Microsoft, 7 in Amazon and in several other places. Not once did we have to let a person not being hired if he fit the bill...Yes that's true, that's a strong argument
But you must know you are not acknowledging the other side from those Americans who are disgruntled, some may not even be maga
You are stuck logically in a Gordian knot of how Americans and products of the full American education system have the brilliance and endeavour to create silicon valley, with the tech and developments in science and math they in large part created
Yet are told to be found lacking in occupying many of the subsequent jobs, not only that but then that those from a developing nation are much better, harder working , why are they obviously better
Tech is not it, people from all backgrounds want to work in tech, but if strong American university grads are complaining on not getting a break there will be issues, what of all those American tiger mums and dads who expect their kids to get into silicon valley, if you don't acknowledge these aspect then you are intentionally being tone deaf
You know how hard it is to find the right talent?
The REQs or positions take 5-6 months to close. And growth is almost phenomenal. When one single project is sanctioned, it creates scores of positions.
Each week there is a meeting in which hiring is reviewed. If you can not hire as a manager, your own promotion is in jeopardy because you will not deliver product / feature on time and you will frustrate the current team members.
There is a reason why most tech companies have massive presence all over the world, where ever they can. They want to hire the people with abilities where ever they an find them and as quickly as they can.
Tell me otherwise, why microsoft does not shift entire development to India? It will be cheaper!
Because if they do it, the american developers are not moving to India and they can not find all the developers they need in India.
You will be surprised but tech talent is indeed very hard to come by.
There are lots of mediocre devs but getting good talent is indeed hard!
As a businessman or even as a manager, last thing you want is a stupid government telling you whom to hire and whom to not.
