Learjet 60 crashes in Florida - Crashes 9 Miles from Mar-a-Lago

For everyone but especially the passengers.

They had atleast a minute during the descent. Plenty of time to enter into the escape pod and get away.
The plane was in a vertical dive descending at at least 227mph if not more.

Those people were not getting into an escape pod.

Still another update:

Even with that big fireball the trees are still green and so is the grass...again showing how a severe impact can easily avoid detection. Many of the wires are still on the poles.

Looking for a plane that crashed in some remote uninhabited area...good luck.

Yup. And, if you noticed, the point of impact was less than 50 ft. from someone's home.

So that horizontal stabilizer is possibly the culprit, seeing the image of the crash at slow speed does seem to indicate the tail was missing something.......no idea where that would've landed, possibly in a million small pieces somewhere?
Still can't believe this, almost seems unreal.......

Completely impractical, flights like this have to have their onboard weight calculated to the last tea cup and fork, including passengers, fuel, and cargo.

Ever wondered why those fancy plastic trays were replaced with tacky aluminium trays - less weight, cheaper fuel, more $$$.

Escape pods on every aircraft would be completely impractical. Air travel is still the safest mode of travel. More people die to road traffic collisions and house fires, for instance 125,000 people are killed or seriously injured due to fires in Pakistan every year…

It’s just that these incidents of air disasters are more impactful, traumatic and attention grabbing.

They need to make an escape pod for these small jets or even ejector seats with parachutes.
As a former Paratrooper, I can tell you that unless you offer every passenger some training for days before you put them in Parachutes, it's going to do more harm than good if you parachute out of an aircraft without knowing anything.

this!!!

Outside of 1300 hours behind a stick, multi-engine and I believe jet rated as well, nothing else.

But that is no longer the focus.

The focus is what caused the crash. Already, NTSB is investigating structural failure.

It’s now being reported this same tragic crew who lost their lives in same Jet were actually had an ATC scolded them recently for flying into severe turbulence.
Perhaps the Pilot or “they” underestimated the danger of flying into this severe storm.

There is nothing left of that plane or the people within - everything gone with the speed and explosion of impact.

This is why I would never travel on smaller private jets ever if i can avoid it, I would always stick with the big heavies. The planes are better engineered planes, the airlines are more regulated, pilots have strict standards they need to maintain relative to private jets given the visibility of issues that the airlines may face if they have issues.

I can understand why people find small aircraft off putting but I’ve flown on a lot of ATRs, Fokkers and even smaller aircraft and aside from turbulence and noisy flights, never faced any issues.

Same here. And, I especially love the RJs. Great little aircraft.

You hear about the history of planes "mysteriously disappearing" and never to be found again.

Well it could crash straight down and not leave too much obvious evidence...a searcher a month later may just walk right by the crash scene without blinking an eye.
