Statement from Hezbollah on the Iranian missile response to Israel:

The Iranian missile response to the Zionist entity in defense of our Lebanese people is a message of moral and political commitment from the Islamic Republic towards Lebanon.

This Iranian support for our legitimate rights and its willingness to bear the financial and political cost of this commitment once again confirms that Iran is the one supporting Lebanon, not the other way around, based on its principles and humanitarian values, and the deep historical relationship between the Lebanese and Iranian peoples. Iran has always wanted the best for our country and has contributed to supporting its resistance to liberate its land, rebuild what the Zionist aggression has destroyed, and its honorable stance alongside Lebanon deserves gratitude from its authorities, not denial and deliberate insults in response to foreign dictates.

We call on the Lebanese authorities to seize the available opportunity and correct their official relations with the Islamic Republic in a way that serves the interests of both countries, and to benefit from this Iranian support to achieve our national goals, especially in light of the formation of the new regional umbrella emerging from the Islamabad negotiations.

This will enable the Lebanese state, through indirect negotiations with the enemy and relying on this umbrella and the factors of strength represented by the resistance, the steadfastness of the popular position, and internal consensus, to achieve our people's demands for liberating their land, returning the displaced, reconstruction, and preserving national sovereignty.

We in Hezbollah, on behalf of our people, their martyrs and steadfast families, the displaced, and all free and honorable people in our country, highly appreciate this loyalty from Iran and salute the courage of this noble stance of the Supreme Leader, the President, the government, and parliament, the army, the Revolutionary Guards, and the Iranian people for their stand alongside our legitimate rights and national cause.

These are rights that we will continue to defend through our heroic resistance until they are achieved, so that our people can remain on their land, living with dignity, freedom, and pride.

Israel is moving at full speed to try disarming Hezbollah. Hezbollah like Hamas aren't invincible. Southern Lebanon being razed to the ground poses a big problem.

Rajji says Hezbollah, including political wing, 'illegal and destabilizing'

by Naharnet Newsdesk 1 hour ago

Minister of Foreign Affairs Youssef Rajji said Hezbollah is a military organization and there is no difference between its political and its military wings.

In an interview with the French news channel LCI, Rajji said that "distinguishing between the political and military wings of Hezbollah is completely unrealistic."

"The party is a single, integrated entity that represents an illegal military organization on Lebanese territory, and is nothing but an armed wing of Iran, used to destabilize the entire Middle East region."

Rajji accused Hezbollah of "dragging Lebanon into a quagmire", adding that the military option has proven to be ineffective. Rajji lauded President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam's "courageous" move to open the door to direct negotiations with Israel, with the aim of reaching a ceasefire and enabling nearly one million displaced people to return to their homes.

The Lebanese minister said he dreams of peace, but first and foremost Israel must withdraw from southern Lebanon and cease its aggression, which, alongside fighters, has killed many innocent civilians. "One must dream of peace, and after that, we will see."

by Naharnet Newsdesk 23 hours ago

The U.N. rights chief said Wednesday he would send a mission to Lebanon to collect evidence on alleged rights abuses since the war began between Hezbollah and Israel.

"I have agreed with the government of Lebanon to conduct an impartial and independent assessment mission in the country," Volker Turk told journalists, adding: "I will soon be deploying a team to collect information and evidence on alleged violations and abuses of international human rights law, and violations of international humanitarian law and related law committed by the parties to the armed conflict in the country since March 2."
