Let me share a truth with the Hindus: In Modi's 12 years in power, GDP growth has been almost zero

Since when Camery , Mercedes and BMW are for "decent life" ?? These are under luxury tax bracket which is definitely normal in a middle income country like India.

Indian UPI system has nothing to do with Alibaba and Paytm wallet bullshit deal. UPI an independent direct bank to bank transfer.
No. I see Indians every day on social media showing off Lamborghinis and Rolls-Royces. And then you tell me a Camry is luxury? If you consider a Toyota Camry a luxury car, then you should ask yourself who built that perception for you. That insulting narrative is nothing but Modi's way of reaching deeper into your pockets. BMWs and entry-level Mercedes-Benz models are the starting point of a decent life everywhere in the world. India is no exception. India is a consumer market for all kinds of world-class luxury goods.

That's a small minority of sickular (secular) inspired Indians who are enemies of Hinduism and prioritize wealth over cows.

The majority of Indians are like this. Hindus are a deeply spiritual and religious people and they have no use for material luxuries.

Are you telling me the digital payment system they're so proud of and chest thumping about is also a Chinese import?
lol

Yes, Alibaba played a massive and foundational role in Paytm's growth, but it has now completely exited its investment .

Here is the timeline of their involvement:

· 2015 - The Big Bet: Alibaba and its fintech arm Ant Group invested over $500 million for a ~40% stake, aiming to replicate Alipay's success in India .
· Majority Shareholder: Ant Group eventually became Paytm's largest shareholder, holding nearly 30% around its 2021 IPO .
· 2023-2025 - Complete Exit: Alibaba sold its remaining direct stake in early 2023 . Ant Group then gradually sold down its stake , with the final 5.84% sale in August 2025 marking a complete end to Chinese ownership .

This exit was driven by geopolitical tensions and India's stricter regulations on Chinese investments .

For context, Alibaba and Ant Group invested a total of about $851 million into Paytm over the years .

Alipay also a major partner in Malaysian, *Touch and Go" digital payments.

Alipay's contribution to Touch 'n Go (TNG) eWallet is foundational—it provided the core technology, the joint venture structure, and the global network that turned TNG into Malaysia's leading digital wallet .

🧬 The Core Partnership

· Joint Venture & Tech: TNG Digital is a joint venture between Touch 'n Go Group and Ant Group (Alipay) . It was built by "leveraging on Ant Financial's Alipay technology platform" to launch the QR code payment ecosystem in Malaysia . Ant International remains a major shareholder (34.62% as of Sept 2025) .
· "Malaysia's Alipay": The collaboration essentially "replicated" Alipay's successful model in Malaysia, giving TNG its tech backbone .

✈️ Cross-Border Payments (Alipay+)

The biggest practical benefit is seamless international usage via Alipay+:

· Pay Abroad: Since 2022, users can scan Alipay+ QR codes to pay in countries like China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and Singapore .
· Guide for China: No need for a Chinese bank account—just scan the Alipay QR in-app, pay in MYR with real-time rates, and TNG handles the rest (though a ~1% conversion fee applies) .

🔐 Security & Funding

· Security: Alipay collaborates with TNG on initiatives like the "eWallet Guardians Alliance" to enhance cross-border security .
· Funding: Alipay's backing helps attract major investment (e.g., a ~$168M round in 2024) .

In short, Alipay provided the tech, the international connectivity, and strategic investment that transformed TNG from a transit card into a powerhouse digital wallet.

I :love::love: the cross border payment. The rates are very competitive. And I don't need to worry about not enough cash when I am abroad. Money changers will go out of business soon.

No. That's stupid. UPI is simply bank to bank instant transaction facilitated by a government company. The banks, payment apps, talk to each other through this track set by UPI. It's in the name, United Payment Interface.
Some of them are literally the same engineers. At the very least, China showed India the way.
None of it is. The only connection is popularising QR code to get payment ID. QR in itself is Japanese innovation.

Wallets are outdated. Paytm existed long before Alibaba came in with funds. All they did was give it enough money for marketing through offering cashback offers. Banking rules are strict in India, so wallets are more like an unofficial savings Bank without any government scrutiny or interest payments which eventually lead to regulators pushing hard for reform. Introduction of inter-intra bank IMPS rendered Paytm even more useless why do you need an intermediate wallet when you have a bank account that pays interest.

Jack Ma is an undisputed pioneer and driving force in the global wave of mobile payment adoption. No matter how you try to argue otherwise, it is useless. After Jack Ma came to India, India miraculously had its own mobile payment system. There are not that many miraculous coincidences — unless, of course, you want to claim that UPI started the global mobile payment revolution. But that kind of propaganda is nothing more than a cover .

There is no such thing as "no wallet." The money simply goes into Modi's wallet instead. Every transaction, instead of passing through Paytm, now goes through Modi's intermediaries to the banks. The world isn't that full of fools — and this kind of government propaganda is utterly meaningless.

What you are describing is the function.
What he is describing is how it functions and the origin. It seems to make sense.
