it scans the network to know what other devices you have connected: smartphones, tablets, cctv cameras, laptops and so on.

the probability of a tv company using such information for something bad it's zero, zero to win.

the dangerous are state actors, but they can do it anyway without lg televisions.

At this point it's like playing whack a mole...
...Google, Microsoft, Meta, Apple, Amazon...all these major companies have been found to be invading privacy at various levels...
...and what happens after? Nothing meaningful. A slap on the wrist...a fine that's a joke...a CEO playing dumb blaming some low level fall guy.
And the list of these major players seems small..but it's not. They own a lot of other sub companies that they either acquired or spun off. Meta alone owns a ton of social media(Facebook, Messenger, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Threads, etc). Not to mention everything owned by the other major players. As to what gets caught is probably a small sliver of that comes to light by some researchers.

Watch this be a class action lawsuit and a fine. The fine goes to the government which has been getting fat from such useless "punishments" while nothing meaningful gets done. Of course the fine is just some pocket change for such companies..all the while both the government and these companies are all too happy to collect the data and invade privacy hand in hand behind the scenes. As for the class action lawsuit...every member who claims it would be given like a $20 check as a slap in the face..like saying in a demeaning manner "go get urself some lunch boy".

At this point...the government should just stop with the pretense of not allowing Chinese EVs, routers, 5G equipment from Huawei and other such things that was supposedly a threat to the American ppl...bcuz it could spy on ppl and have backdoors...
...if the default is privacy violation and spying on everyone then the people might as well be able to have affordable things.

the key is control the network, if you control the network, no matter how many malicious software you have, you can know it and block the connection.

so the danger is use foreign equipment in ISP level machines.

chinese made devices for mobile core networks is already banned in most of western countries.
