At some point we have to accept Harpoon and P-3C Tech has been compromised with US giving India access

Hi,
Nothing to worry about Indian navy already using AGM 84L on their Poseidon aircraft, so no
Point of worrying about tech compromised
Thank you

You have C-802

The Harpoon where procured in 2006. Maybe near the end of shelf life.
JF 17 cannot go far into the sea despite 802 and CM 400 have longer ranges.

There is somebody who claims PAF's F-16s had AGM-84 launch capability since 83's, however Harpoons were in PN inventory, not PAFs. A reason could be Mirages with their Exocets deputed for PN while F-16s primary role was not Naval support. Exocet had smaller range compared to Harpoon, but both there combat tested missiles.

Now that meant F-16s BVR targeting capability had to be there in 80's since AGM-84 is a long range missile ? I am not sure if Block-15 were BVR capable, the block-32s were the first BVR capable aircraft AFAIK. That saying, AGM-84 had its own radar and used that to track and hit targets. @Oscar That is why this missile is pricey as you mentioned. Furthermore the radar altimeter helped the onboard radar correct its altitude according to the terrain (sea in this case). Exocet also had active radar guidance. Sea Kings could carry Exocet.

Then there was a rumor that PN modified/updated Harpoons which CNS denied.

By the way, an old pic.

Most platforms carry one or two Harpoon missiles.
So what do you suggest, half a squadron to be deployed against each target.
Hence, you need unmanned platforms that can be produced like bunnies. The Turkish tactic is to employ 10 KIZILELMAs for each Greek F-35....
