Flying Wedge Defence and Aerospace Technologies, an Indian defence and aerospace company, achieved a milestone in Bengaluru by unveiling the FWD-200B. This aircraft is touted as India's first indigenous bomber unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

The FWD-200B is a medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) unmanned combat aerial vehicle that has been entirely designed and manufactured in India. According to the firm, it boasts a payload capacity of 100 kgs and is capable of carrying optical surveillance payloads as well as precision air-strike weapons.

Addressing the unveiling ceremony in Bengaluru, Suhas Tejaskanda, founder of Flying Wedge Defence, emphasised that the FWD-200B marks a significant achievement for India, fulfilling the long-awaited dream of producing a combat UAV domestically. He highlighted the challenges faced by agencies like the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in this regard.

The firm announced a notable achievement in cost reduction, with the Indian-made FWD-200B priced at just Rs 25 crores, in stark contrast to the staggering Rs 250 crore cost of imported US Predator drones. Tejaskanda emphasised that this substantial cost reduction demonstrates the company's commitment to self-reliance and positions India as a leader in cost-effective defence solutions.

With features including a 12-20 hour endurance, maximum speed of 200 kts/370 kmph, and a ground control station range of 200 km, the FWD-200B is envisioned as the "nation’s eagle eye" and a vital aerial shield against threats.

The firm stressed that the unveiling of the FWD-200B represents a significant boost to India's Make in India initiative, reducing dependency on costly imports for strategic defence equipment like UAVs.
This whole story is honestly embarrassing

Looks more like a School sience project more than a so called "Startup" they must be highly politically conected must be from some high beurocratic family

It looks like a toy. Even as a mock-up, it looks a bad job at it.
He's a conman, who the F is this clown?

I can't fucking believe the amount of PR this joker is getting

It's a scam

And a dumb one at that
They want to attract VC Funding
Nothing more

Had they not designed such a ridiculous mockup, they might have garnered some VC interest

But this looks like a joke , even the CEO looks like a clown 🤡 and seems to have less knowledge about defence than some members of this forum

He must be living under a rock to call C17 Globemaster a Bomber and Confusing Philippines Brahmos order With Vietnam, which already has P800 Oniks in service

Why is it giving me A Drone 251 vibe

Something tells me that
When Modi is signing the 4 billion USD Predator Deal with Trump sometime in Feb 2025,

This clown will come on stage in front of Leftist Media and shout that why is Modi buying Predator drones
He will demand Rs 10000 crores from GOI to develop his flying pakoda

Dont be surprised if he has the mental capabilities of a 5 year old.

Have you seen his self promotional video where he struts (more like rolls around in his rotund body) around pretending to be a general. That was by far the most cringe thing i have seen last few days.

That's when I realized this guy is a certifiable loony. Claims that India has made no technical advancements in 75 years since independence.

And thinks that his fat potato of a land lubber is going to be helping India make technical advances. Has been sounding out Anand Mahindra to get money for some other "UAV" program.

Ok one question and I'm not joking:

Why are Indian defence products designed so ugly and why is the camo also very ugly? That goes for anything from ballistic missiles to MRLS to tanks,to BMP variations to indigenous Indian MRAPs and basically almost everything.

Yeah,the Tejas.

The project definition phase was commenced in October 1986[23] with France's Dassault-Breguet Aviation as consultant. Dassault-Breguet's expertise was mainly utilised in the design and system integration of the Tejas.

They design their products according to their cuisine.

We had the flying samosa. Now we have the flying pakora.

Perhaps one day we'll see the flying poppadom.

I don’t wish to be negative but 100kg payload? 😑

1st, the drone in OP is fake, the guy is a conman joker as discussed.
2nd, if the thing works just as well, the look shouldn't matter.
3rd, Indian defence products are fairly good looking if not the best.
