This has to be some kind of world record? Some 150-200 valuable posts and updates in every field possible that I can think of? Impressive and much appreciated. I was unfamiliar with quite a lot of it. Some very positive surprises.

BAE Systems Arabian Industries was established in January 2025 by the merger of Saudi Maintenance and Supply Chain Management Company Ltd (SMSCMC) and BAE Systems Saudi Development and Training (BAE Systems SDT).

Strategically positioned at the forefront of the defense and industrial sectors, the company aims to deliver innovative solutions both within Saudi Arabia and on a global scale.

Saudi General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) is looking to acquire unmanned systems technologies from international defense companies.

The Authority aims to build a pioneering technical and innovative base regionally and internationally to develop the maintenance, manufacture and localization of unmanned aircraft systems, as Intra Defense Technologies - a Saudi company licensed by the Authority - will secure several advanced unmanned aircraft systems categories that vary in tasks and performance and are highly competitive in terms of technicality and cost.

H.E. GAMI Governor Ahmad Al Ohali affirmed in his statement that the project for developing maintenance, manufacture and localization of unmanned aircraft systems is in line with the general strategy of the Authority. The comprehensive strategy for the Authority is based on three pillars, namely Military Acquisition, Military Industry, and R&T. It also serves the Authority's strategic goal of localizing more than 50% of the Kingdom's expenditure on Defense by 2030, which “constitutes the primary motivation for our work over the next ten years, in direct cooperation with the military and security entities.”

The Saudi Ministry of Defense (MoD) will proceed with several armament programs in 2025. It will also focus on the transfer and localization of defense technologies.

Saudi Arabia has announced an increase in its defense budget for 2025, raising military expenditures to $78 billion from $75.8 billion in 2024. This allocation accounts for 21% of the country's public spending and 7.1% of its gross domestic product, according to Ahmad Al-Ohali, Governor of the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI). The increase follows a consistent growth trend, with an annual average rise of 4.5% since 1960. Saudi Arabia is now among the five largest military budgets globally.

As one of the world’s largest importers of military equipment, the country continues its strategic shift under Vision 2030, a program launched in 2016 to diversify the economy and enhance domestic industrial capabilities, including in the defense sector. A key objective of this initiative is to localize 50% of defense expenditures by 2030. Ahmad Al-Ohali expressed confidence in achieving this target, stating in February 2024 that the country could even exceed this threshold before the decade’s end.

Saudi Arabia continues to position itself as a key player in the global defense industry while advancing its strategic objective of reducing reliance on foreign defense suppliers. The expansion of its military sector remains a central element of its broader economic and geopolitical transformation.
