I expect that the Koreans will get the lion's share of land, sea and air defense deals in the coming period

The deals signed with the Koreans are not few (LOGIR - SA-MSAM - Chunmoo - Raybolt) and others!

Do we have some concrete recent deals or signed memorandums? Or mostly rumors and speculations for now? Not referring to the already signed deals with South Korea here.

When our South Korean friends talks about this long list of South Korean weaponry (K2, K9, FA-50, KF-21, KSS-III, and HDF-3800SA) that KSA might potentially acquire, so far this has been limited to the KM‑SAM Block II from what I am aware of aside from signed memoranda of understanding in relation to mid‑/long‑term collaboration in defence R&D, production, exports.

My humble opinion is, given that many of those South Korean systems are new and not yet proven in battle, that KSA will wait a bit before deciding.

"Dreaming of entering the military industries field?
Well, listen up, you might not know this, but the Saudi National Academy for Military Industries was actually established.

The Academy was announced in 2022, and today it's become a reality on the ground, with its location in Riyadh spanning over 80,000 square meters, accommodating around 2,000 male and female students every year.

And its current specializations are distributed across four key tracks:

• Electronics Technology in Defense
• Mechanical Technology in Defense
• Electrical Technology in Defense
• Chemical Technology in Defense

And the great thing is that the General Authority for Military Industries GAMI has focused on developing the capabilities of our young men and women “civilians in the technical and scientific fields related to military industries.

And this thing actually raises their awareness and skills in a field that, unfortunately, many people were ignorant of before 2016, but today the situation is starting to change, because the goal is to enhance true awareness of the importance of military industries, so that the new generation knows exactly what it means to manufacture defense systems, and how electronics and mechanics and electricity and chemistry work within this sensitive sector.

And more important than awareness?
Enhancing localization.

Having an academy like this creates a generation that's understanding, qualified, and trained in a scientific way, and this is exactly what supports the state's direction in localizing military industries by 50% and more, because without trained and aware local cadres, there won't be a real industry, nor technology transfer, nor internal development.

And this is a big step because it doesn't just raise the level of individuals

— it raises the level of the entire sector and supports the Kingdom's independence in manufacturing, reduces our reliance on the outside, and opens up massive opportunities for the coming generation.

"There are countries that establish military companies within their territories, then recruit foreign engineers and experts from multiple countries to manufacture their products, and afterward describe these products as “national industry”.It is true that manufacturing within the country contributes to supportingits economy, but the reality is entirely different in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Here, when we say “national industry”, we mean it literally:
Industry by the hands of the sons of the homeland, with their expertise, and with their capabilities that are being developed and empowered to become an actual part of the national defense system"

Nobody mentioned but they themselves know who they are.

General Atomics: The Saudis want to buy up to 200 YFQ-42A stealth aircraft

The President of the American company General Atomics, Mr. David Alexander, said: Saudi Arabia is interested in purchasing up to 200 stealth aircraft from Collaborative Combat

The YFQ-42A is the latest unmanned combat aircraft developed by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) for the US Air Force as part of the Collaborative Combat Aircraft - CCA program, which aims to produce a new generation of intelligent combat aircraft operating alongside manned aircraft.

1763563334999.jpeg

The US Air Force officially announced the designation YFQ-42A for the aircraft in March 2025, and it is the first combat aircraft drone that gets the letter "F" for "fighter" in the USAF naming system, reflecting its direct combat role.

1763563439133.jpeg

Design and technical characteristics

1. Stealth design (Low Observability)

The YFQ-42A was developed with a low radar signature structure that includes:

Streamlined body inspired by stealth fighter designs

V-shaped tail

An upper air intake hides the engine fan from radars

Internal weapons bay for increased stealth

2. Combat capabilities and missions

The aircraft is designed to perform multiple roles, including:

Live air-to-air combat

Attack and support missions

Electronic warfare

ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance)

Acting as a combat escort for manned aircraft (Loyal Wingman)

1763563610693.jpeg

3. Artificial intelligence and autonomy

The YFQ-42A relies on a highly advanced autonomy core that has been tested for years through the MQ-20 Avenger program, giving it the ability to:

Make autonomous decisions in real time

Coordination with manned and unmanned aircraft

Carrying out joint tasks within a combat aviation team

However, on-the-loop control remains in sensitive situations to ensure sound decisions.

4. The concept of “Genus/Species” is in development

The YFQ-42A is built on a common chassis concept (Genus) that allows multiple versions of the same family (Species) to be developed.

1763563758816.png

The strategic importance of the aircraft

The YFQ-42A represents a revolutionary step in the future of air power for several reasons:

The first truly unmanned fighter

It carries air-to-air combat missions and is not just a surveillance aircraft.

It acts as a force multiplier for manned aircraft such as the F-22 and F-35 and upcoming aircraft under the NGAD program.

It costs less than traditional fighters, which allows it to have a large number and accept higher casualty rates in combat.

The YFQ-42A is not just a new drone but an artificially intelligent autonomous stealth fighter platform capable of changing the shape of air warfare in the future, official information about its exact capabilities remains secret.. But what has been revealed shows that the United States is moving toward an era of "mixed air power" between man and machine.

*** Mr. David Alexander stated during his speech that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will obtain the local production rights for the stealth YFQ-42a (CCA) .
