High-level delegates from the Ministry of National Guard of Saudi Arabia visited a South Korean Army firing range on November 5 to witness a combined firepower demonstration of South Korea's main weapons systems.His Royal Highness Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of the National Guard, led the group at the invitation of South Korea's Ministry of National Defense and Hanwha Aerospace Corporation, Korea's largest defense weapons manufacturer, as part of efforts to expand the bilateral defense partnership.
A variety of Hanwha's artillery and combat vehicles demonstrated their proven combat capabilities during the live-fire exercise, which was witnessed by delegates from the Ministry of the National Guard as well as South Korean delegates from the Ministry of National Defense, Defense Procurement Program Administration and Hanwha Aerospace Corporation.
During the exercise, a group of 18 K9A1 self-propelled howitzers fired more than 90 rounds intensely at a target area, while wheeled armored vehicles equipped with K30W Chunho (Sky Tiger) anti-aircraft guns and K30 self-propelled anti-aircraft systems fired Biho (Flying Tiger) heavy machine guns on air targets. The K21 infantry fighting vehicle demonstrated its outstanding amphibious maneuverability on the battlefield.
The event also included a display of newly developed combat platforms optimized for Saudi Arabia's requirements, among them a 155mm self-propelled wheeled howitzer equipped with an automated turret (Unmanned), a laser-operated anti-aircraft weapon, and a TIGON wheeled armored vehicle equipped with either anti-tank guided missiles or a cannon. 120 mm mortar, wheeled hybrid short-range air defense system (H-SHORAD) armed with an unmanned turret with a 30 mm cannon and a surface-to-air missile system. Vice President Oh Qiawan, President of Hanwha Aerospace Middle East and Africa, said: “Today, we had a great opportunity to showcase our advanced defense technologies and products to the delegation of the Ministry of National Guard.
