November 2024:

Saudi Arabia holds talks with the Aviation Corporation of China (AVIC) with the aim of enhancing cooperation in developing military drones, especially the Chengdu Wing Loong-3.

The negotiations led by the Saudi Serb Advanced Industries Company focus on concluding a technology transfer (TOT) agreement, which will allow the Kingdom to develop its capabilities in the production and maintenance of drones, and achieve greater independence in this field.

These discussions aim to enhance technology transfer, enabling “Serb” to manufacture these aircraft locally and integrate them with national technologies. This is expected to contribute to reducing Saudi Arabia's dependence on arms imports and supporting the development of its defense sector.

Targeted technologies include advanced propulsion systems to improve operational efficiency, advanced sensor and communications systems for reconnaissance and control missions, as well as weapons technologies including precision missile launch systems, and software and hardware integration to meet operational requirements.

The Chengdu Winglong-3 is a new generation drone, capable of carrying out long-range missions with precision weapons and modern sensors, making it a versatile option for surveillance and reconnaissance.

GCC and South Korean air defense systems

Korean expert Haku Mason reported that the UAE and Saudi Arabia are also negotiating with South Korea to acquire the L-SAM long-range air defense systems after their development is completed. This system is part of South Korea's multi-layered missile defense system and aims to intercept long-range ballistic missiles and air targets at very high altitudes.

This development represents an important step forward in enhancing South
Korea's air defense capabilities, especially in response to the growing missile and nuclear threats posed by North Korea.

A ceremony to celebrate the completion of the L-SAM system was held at the Defense Development Agency in Daejeon, located about 140 kilometers southeast of Seoul. The event was attended by senior defense officials, including Defense Minister Kim Jong-hyun, who highlighted the importance of the new missile defense system to national security.

“Even if North Korea carries out a missile provocation, it will not be able to penetrate the solid defense system of our armed forces,” Kim said during his speech at the ceremony. She will have to bear serious consequences, which may lead to the end of her regime.”

The long-range surface-to-air missile system is designed to intercept incoming threats at altitudes of more than 40 kilometers. According to the Ministry of Defence, although specific operational details have not been disclosed, it is understood that the L-SAM system is capable of engaging targets at altitudes of 50 to 60 kilometres. This capability is intended to operate within a multi-layered defense strategy, complementing existing systems such as the US-made Patriot PAC-3 and M-SAM II air defense systems, which can intercept targets at altitudes of up to 40 kilometres.

With the successful development of the L-SAM system, South Korea plans to begin production next year, with deployment to the military scheduled for the mid-to-late 2020s. Once deployed, the L-SAM will play a critical role in South Korea's Air and Missile Defense (KAMD) system, which aims to create a comprehensive shield against missile threats.

The KAMD system is a component of South Korea's broader three-pronged defense strategy, which also includes the Kill Chain preemptive strike platform and the Korea Comprehensive Punishment and Retaliation (KMPR) system. While Kill Chain and KMPR focus on offensive capabilities, KAMD, with L-SAM as a key component, provides a strong defensive framework to protect South Korean territory.

KSA doing a Qatar and buying it all - although more to do with EF consortium struggled @arslank01
Germany did change its position towards EF for Saudi Arabia and Turkey..

Maybe KSA came to the conclusion that it needs more diversification of its sources..It might still buy 48 of the latest EF and go for a big deal of near future Rafale-5..

But..According to what was reported by the French newspaper La Tribune, this trip will not be an opportunity to sign large contracts in the field of armaments, despite the large presence of senior officials in this sector within the French delegation: no Rafale, no surveillance satellites, and no mission aircraft (A400M)...

The timing of this trip, according to many observers, comes at the worst time for France: a state visit that falls between the US presidential elections in early November and the arrival of the new Trump administration in January 2025. According to the French newspaper, Riyadh may wait for the inauguration of Donald Trump in the Oval Office to decide on whether Some major weapons issues, particularly those relating to fighter aircraft.

According to her, if the Rafale had a chance in Saudi Arabia, it would only be because of the German veto on the export of Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, manufactured by the Eurofighter consortium (BAE Systems, Airbus and Italy's Leonardo), which angered London. Berlin, which has since lifted its veto, did not want to supply Riyadh with new weapons.

Aside from the timetable that does not serve France’s industrial interests, Saudi Arabia is facing a crisis in the governance of the armaments sector, which currently hinders the making of major decisions related to this field, according to the newspaper’s claim. President Emmanuel Macron seeks to take advantage of this visit to strengthen his relations with the strongman in the Kingdom, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The French president hopes to establish a “strong personal relationship” with him, according to what La Tribune Dimanche newspaper reported. Macron and the Crown Prince will have a private dinner on the second night, as the Elysee Palace explained that this dinner “will provide them with a distinguished interaction, which is one of the goals of the visit.”

The famous defense system that has proven its success in wars
Actual and realistic, which is the Patriot system!

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is also considered

Praise be to God, there are national military industries 🇸🇦 that are very advanced in all military sectors; air, sea, land, and defense, and ammunition, including missiles, bombs, artillery ammunition of all kinds, cannons, and radar systems. As well as the air and sea drones, we are advancing silently among the chaos in the region.
