Makkah Defence Alliance: Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, news & updates

Very important meeting today between representatives of the Mecca Pact (KSA, Pakistan, and Turkey) and Iran in Tehran.

But an invitation for Tehran to join the pact was not on the agenda.

Rather, an emergency session in which the three are requesting Iran's help to end the conflict with Ansarollah, which is threatening to destabilize Saudi Arabia.

From the Iranian perspective, KSA has committed the same mistake as Trump: Starting a war that it cannot control or end.

Tehran is willing to help, a source in Iran tells me, but Ansarullah's condition for KSA to lift the air blockade on Yemen before any fighting ends is unchanging.

(Ansarullah is focused on the air blockade, not the sea blockade)

Still, this meeting reflects something even more important, and something we and other restrainers have pointed out for years: As the US pulls back militarily, contrary to Washington's conventional wisdom, regional states are showing greater agency and taking responsibility for the region's security themselves.

This does not mean all problems will be resolved or that conflict and chaos will be avoided, but it will be their conflicts, their chaos, and their responsibility, not the US's.

Wth this parsi dude is blabbering about ? .... Yemen is a sideshow , this meeting is about saving Iranian butts .

We need to tackle Afg on a long term basis, and insure that Taliban does not get the capability to disrupt us.

I suggest making Mahmood Khan Achakzai President of Afg for life, with his hairy ears, he'll fit right in.
After sinking PTI's boat, lets hope he repeats this in Afg too

Afghanistan is a problem that will remain with us until the day of judgement of completely Balkanized Afghanistan becomes reality, and unfortunately we have to deal with them because of our own people from KPK, who just can't stop loving the Afghans despite them spitting on their faces every day.

Is it like the "baton" is being handed over back to the "Farsi-influenced" powers?

Unprecedented meeting in Tehran: Saudi defense minister, Pakistan CDF and Turkish spy chief

regional issues should be shaped by regional actors not USA and Israel

but Saudi cant be trusted

they always tell Americans what is being discussed

Saudi should be double played

#BREAKING | Iranian National Security Council:- A meeting in Tehran including the Saudi Defense Minister, the Pakistani Army Chief, and the Turkish Intelligence Chief- The meeting aims to take an effective step toward building internal regional security- The meeting is an Iranian initiative that we hope will lead to a region that enjoys stability and peace

This historic meeting in Tehran may be the last chance before escalation spirals out of control, an attempt to impose a path of de-escalation before it's too late. The presence of military and security figures at this level together means that the remaining time is extremely limited.

The purpose of the meeting is to place Iran squarely before the facts and risks without mincing words. In this historic moment, which will be devastating, Iran must choose between wisdom or forcing its people to pay the price for an escalation greater than before. The last chances of diplomacy.
