Makkah Joint Defense Agreement: Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, news & updates

Iran cannot protect its own 27 nuclear professional, its own superme commander, cannot found out moles in there governments, cannot do anything against Israel.

Even Gaza brothers had more guts than Iran and put up a fight while Iran is afraid if they attack Israel than they would kill there family members that is why Iran is not attacking because they are so many moles in there government. If we did not give reply Iran when they strike in Pakistan couple of years than they would have attacked Pakistan as well specially us assets mostly and Iran is only not attacking because Pakistan give a strong response and they 1 attack will have far more stronger response. Iran will never be friend of Pakistan who keeps raw spies and aid them destabilise Pakistan. I am happy US is destroying every last piece of Indian investment in Chabahr port.
Chabahar will be rebuilt and is important for Russia and Central Asia and Iran, irrelevant of what Pindu modi wants or thinks.

Iran, Russia and in distance China will continue to weaken US footprint anywhere in Eurasia. The smaller states, NATO members and US puppies in Gulf are just witnessing this proces and symbolic alliances or fantasies will not prevent this proces which is progressing by time. They will lose in Ukraine and will lose against Iran as well. Band-aids will not heal an amputated arm and Makka agreement will not shield the misadventures of Ale-Saud.

I am ok with any government in Iran if it results in stopping root cause of Indian spies which Pakistan caught in 2014 and BLA even if it results in pro US government. Where ever Iran footprint is than there is a chaos, proxies, civil war, panic etc. Execpt Beharin due to UAE every Shia based government has ruined its country to core to please Iran and people are displaced and leaving.

Good point, Turkiye and Saudi will be very interoperable both sides flying US fighters and Eurofighters and having US AEW, Link 16 etc.

Unsure how Pak Mil fits in bar the F-16 fleet....

The same way the rest of the Pakistani military fits in with it's US and European equipment.

PAF re-fuel's over Iraq and then drop munitions on Israel ? low flying cruise missiles, ABM's ??? what magical thinking is this ? Pakistan does not have these capabilities.

See that you've been only wasting the bandwidth of this forum.

Any attack against Iran by a third country while Iran and Saudi have clashes or war means that the third party enters a war of choice against Iran.

Would Iran entering a war with the Saudis after this agreement constitute a war of choice against Pakistan and Turkey as well? If this agreement is as you implied.

this is a serious commitment our current leadership is making on behalf of 250 million pakistanis without even consulting us.

I heard they have you sitting next to Shehbaz at the next meeting.

Iran doesnt give a damn about Indian Jew-worshippers. India should adjust its policy to reflect the greater Eurasia and Global South in a new multipolar world.

If it wants to do NATO and Jew-worship like GCC and the sultan, and neglecting its neighbours and Asia as a continent, it will (have to) pay for its choices.

How many of its sailors and ships went to the afterworld by Iranian missiles? These British-Raj chutyas even neglect the public opinion from within India.

Building on your argument only. Don't know what the agreement holds.
Iran does not care about paper agreements of Ale-Saud. During Iran-Iraq war we attacked both US and Soviet Union flagged tankers.

We kill US troops and destroy their bases because we are at war against US. We dont care if they throw their slaves from Europe into the battle (because of agreements).

Don't care for rhetoric. My question was simple; does your argument apply to Iran equally?

This article also mentions that the pact is primarily against Iran, but with the additional nugget that it will be operationalized by action against the Houthis.

Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan sign defence pact in Mecca

Three allies seek to deepen regional security co-operation to deal with wars and instability

Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan signed a defence pact in Mecca on Friday as the allies seek to deepen regional security co-operation after the turmoil triggered by the US-Israeli war against Iran.

The agreement between the three Muslim-majority countries comes as Riyadh faces a growing threat from Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, who have reignited a decade-long conflict with Saudi Arabia, attacking oil tankers in the Red Sea and targeting the kingdom’s energy infrastructure with missiles and drones.

The military alliance “reflects a recognition that American deterrence has been significantly weakened and that the Iranian threat will increasingly need to be managed by regional powers”, said Ali Shihabi, a Saudi commentator close to the royal court.

Pakistan’s foreign ministry said the agreement reflected the three states’ “commitment to further strengthening their collective security and to promoting peace, security and stability in the region and beyond”.“The agreement is intended to strengthen collective deterrence against any act of aggression, and stipulates that any armed attack against any one of the three states shall be regarded as an attack against them all,” the ministry said in a statement.

Saudi Arabia said the pact was not “an effort to establish a military axis or a sectarian bloc. Nor is it linked to any nuclear ambitions or arms race.” A Turkish official said the pact was “purely defensive in nature” and not focused on any “specific actor”. He said it would be open for other regional states to join in the future.

The deal was signed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Pakistan’s powerful military chief Field Marshal Asim Munir was also at the meeting.

Two people briefed on the agreement said it was similar to a mutual defence pact Saudi Arabia and nuclear-armed Pakistan agreed last September. In April, Pakistan deployed a squadron of fighter jets and crew, as well as a Chinese-made HQ-9 air-defence system, to a Saudi air base to help the kingdom defend against Iranian attacks as part of that deal.

Riyadh and Islamabad have for months been holding talks with Nato-member Turkey on the possible expansion of their agreement, which appears to have been accelerated by the escalating conflict between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia.

“It’s a prelude to more Saudi military action against the Houthis. Turkey has naval assets and I think they will be expected to participate, as will the Pakistanis,” one of those briefed on the deal said.

“It reflects Turkish willingness to get involved, which is a very interesting development.”A Pakistani official said Munir and Erdoğan discussed forming a “new regional security architecture” and collaborating to respond to Houthi strikes on Saudi Arabia and Red Sea shipping during talks in Ankara last month.

Ankara is seeking to increase defence exports to the Gulf, and the tripartite alliance could marry Riyadh’s petrodollars with Ankara and Islamabad’s battle-hardened armies and defence production capabilities.

Turkey and Pakistan are already co-operating on drone development, while Saudi Arabia has signed major drone procurement and training deals with Turkish defence company Baykar. The defence deal also “fits the broader US preference for greater regional burden-sharing”, Burcu Ozcelik, a senior fellow at the Royal United Services Institute think-tank in London, said. “At the same time, it aligns with the ‘regional solutions to regional problems’ approach long advocated by Ankara.

”Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan and Egypt have been deepening their ties over the past year as regional states seek to manage the fallout from almost three years of conflict in the Middle East between Iran and its proxies and Israel.

As well as the threat posed by Iran, the allies are also increasingly concerned about Israel’s military operations across the region. All four have sought to de-escalate the US’s war with Iran, during which Tehran has launched barrages of missiles and drones at Gulf states and closed the Strait of Hormuz.

The conflict has injected a mood of urgency among regional states about their need to diversify defence partnerships as the months-long war has reinforced the view that they cannot rely solely on the US as a security partner.

“The US can’t do the job, so it helps to fill the gap and there is a need for a new security architecture in the region,” one of the people briefed on the talks said.

That has become more pressing for Riyadh as the Houthis last month resumed their war against the kingdom, shattering a four-year truce by launching missiles and drones at Saudi Arabia and announcing a blockade of Saudi ports. They have also threatened to close the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden.

The waterway has become a vital route for Saudi Arabia to export its oil to Asia since Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz. In a sign that the conflict was escalating, the Saudi military said Houthi attacks on the kingdom’s southern province of Najran wounded 11 civilians, including a four-year-old child, on Thursday.

Separately, the Houthis claimed responsibility for attacks that killed dozens of forces aligned to the Saudi-backed Yemeni government.Saudi Arabia has responded to Houthi attacks in recent weeks by launching air strikes against the rebels in Yemen.

The kingdom intervened in Yemen’s civil war in 2015 to lead an Arab coalition against the Houthis after the rebels seized Sana’a and ousted the internationally recognised government. The parties reached a ceasefire in April 2022, but the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel and the Houthis’ assaults on shipping upended a diplomatic push to end the war.

The truce, however, had largely held before last month’s flare-up.Saudi Arabia has also faced missile and drone attacks from Iranian-backed militias in Iraq, and last month joined the US in launching strikes against those militants. The Saudi-owned Al Arabiya media outlet quoted an official on Thursday saying there was “credible intelligence” that suggested Iranian-backed proxies and Iran’s Revolutionary Guards were preparing to attack the kingdom.

Yasmine Farouk, at Crisis Group think-tank, said in a recent note that the deepening alliance between Saudi Arabia and its allies has “the potential to reshape the regional order, if incrementally, with the first test being whether it can help bring about a stable outcome to the US-Israeli war with Iran”.

If Iran attacks Turkey or Pakistan first, then it's a war of choice from Iranian side and Iran has to bare the responsibility.

For example if Iran takes side of Greece against Turkey or side of Afghanistan against Pakistan.

By taking sides I mean military attacks from Iran against Turkey if Turkey has a war against Greece or military attacks from Iran against Pakistan when Pakistan is fighting the Taliban or India. In these cases Iran is guilty and Pakistan or Turkey have the right to attack Iran.

NOW If Iran attacks or clashes with Ale-Saud and some third party attacks Iran, without Iran attacking them first, then the third party entered a war of choice against Iran and Iran has the right to respond fully against the source of the agression which is the third party.

You’re talking about Central Asia as if Iran or India have some deep influence there, but that’s just not reality. Uzbeks, Kazakhs, Turkmens, Kyrgyz.. these are all Turkic peoples. Culturally, historically, linguistically, and ethnically, that region is part of the wider Turkic world, not Iran’s sphere. Iran has virtually zero influence over Central Asia today, and it never had meaningful cultural dominance there to begin with.

Russia’s interest is understandable .. geography, Soviet legacy, trade routes, and security ties. But Iran’s role in Central Asia is tiny, and India’s is even smaller. So it’s strange to see people acting like Tehran or New Delhi are major players in a region that is overwhelmingly Turkic and has its own identity, alliances, and priorities.

If anything, the future of Central Asia will be shaped by Turkic cooperation.. Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, not by countries that have no cultural or historical roots there. So I genuinely don’t understand why Iran or India are being inserted into a region where they have almost no organic influence.

Western Wahhabi agent of chaos pointing fingers at others. Tell me who has destroyed Afghanistan, Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Yemen ?

That's right, daddy USA and its dedicated regional flunkies.

The root of Central Asia, be it the language, architecture, civilization has been almost mainly Iranian up to 600-800 years ago and heavily influenced the turco-mongolian dynasties thereafter. I'm talking about the "istan's" (lands in Persian) who celebrate Nowruz for new year (unlike the westernized Christian new year in Turkey, with all respect)

Now, Iran has the cultural soft power in Central Asia and Central Asians, including brothers in Pakistan (South Asians) respect Persian civilization deeply up to Bangladesh. Great figures such as Iqbal (Pakistan) and Mevlana (who you know) cherished this civilization. You can't simply wipe them out by new modern constructs, organizations and revisionism.

Add to that that regional trade and transport links cut through ethnolinguistic ties.

I can understand the alliance between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, after all, one has wealth and the other has military strength. They can form a complementary relationship.
A Pakistan-Turkey alliance? I can't figure out what complementary elements you have.
If a group of puppets in Europe continue to meddle recklessly, the future battlefield in Europe will be in grave danger. Turkey, as a NATO member, must join the war. Will Saudi Arabia and Pakistan be willing to bear the burden of war for Turkey?

All of these countries would respond when attacked, right to respond or not. We are wearing off from the original argument on 'a war of choice' into 'right to attack'.

If this agreement is as you have implied, knowing that Pakistan and Turkey will be obligated to come to Saudi aid, will an Iranian first attack on Saudia not constitute a war of choice on its part against all three?

I honestly don’t see where this supposed “Iranian cultural influence” in Central Asia is today. The people of the region — Uzbeks, Kazakhs, Turkmens, Kyrgyz — overwhelmingly identify as Turkic, and their cultural, linguistic, and historical connections run directly through the Turkic world and modern Türkiye. That’s who they relate to, not Iran.

Yes, Tajikistan is an Iranian‑speaking nation — nobody disputes that. But that’s one country. Bringing up Pakistan or Bangladesh doesn’t make sense here either; they’re South Asian societies with their own identities, not part of the Central Asian Turkic sphere.

The reality is simple: Central Asia is a Turkic region, shaped by Turkic peoples, and it continues to align with Turkic states. That influence isn’t going anywhere, and neither Iran nor China can replace it. You can see it in language, identity, regional cooperation, and the growing role of the Organization of Turkic States.
