Another satellite state. Caught between a rock and a hard place where outsiders are interfering with impunity.

Very amateurish reaction from all sides. Most importantly, sitting ministers of Maldives behaving like a troll.

The Maldives is massively popular with western tourists including film stars etc whose average spend per visit is much higher than a dozen middle class Indian families.
Yes a snub may hurt a bit but can be offset.

The popular Daily Mail had an article on this today;

With Dubai now relegated to also ran, many more Hollywood A-listers are flocking to the Maldives attracted by the pristine white beaches and luxury resorts including the Oblu Select Lobigili hotel.

The hotel stretches out to sea and even includes an underwater restaurant - perfect for Instagrams.

Among the most popular of the Maldives' inhabited islands is Maafushi, which offers an abundance of beach bars, restaurants, water sports and snorkelling tours.

Other hotspots on the archipelago include the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island where the Kardashians are known to frequent.

I disagree- this has been building up in a nasty way for long. India very maturely restrained even when the current president very offiensively campaigned with anti- India statements (see below). Once in power he just decided to take it several notches up. I think the threshold is crossed by them.
