Marco Rubio: “Any conflict between the U.S. and China ... would be catastrophic”​

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that any confrontation between Washington and Beijing would have consequences far beyond the two countries, describing a potential conflict as catastrophic for the global community.

“Any conflict between the U.S. and China, be it economic or be it military, God forbid, would be catastrophic for both countries and for the world,” Rubio said in a pre-recorded interview.

Rubio said the United States must carefully manage its relationship with China while continuing to defend its national interests.

“So we have to manage that, but we can’t walk away or forfeit our national interest,” he said.

The secretary of state described balancing those competing priorities as one of the central challenges of diplomacy.

“So this is the hard work of foreign policy and it requires every administration to sort of balance these two competing tugs against us,” Rubio said.

His remarks underscore the administration’s effort to avoid a direct confrontation with China while maintaining what Rubio described as the United States’ national interests.

I was going to say, the US will be firing blank interceptors if they ever went to war with China, atleast in the short term.
