New York poised for first South Asian - origin and Muslim mayor as Cuomo concedes to Mamdani

Democrats and white liberals truly revealed their deceitful and ugly faces during the Biden era. They only care about Jews, rich people, war, black women and homosexuals and dont care about anybody or anything else. They fooled Muslims and many others for decades by pretending to be inclusive while only desiring your money and votes for elections. In reality the Dems are just Republican-lite. I think the Dem party as it currently exists will slowly disintegrate and we are looking at GOP rule for a long time. All that will be harmful for America.

It's time to try third parties or independents or new folks like Mr Mamdani.
Democrats have always been like that. Been like that since before the US Civil War.

Here's one example: Woman's suffrage. Democrats were opposed to women having the right to vote. It was Republicans who were championing women having the right to vote.

Another: the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Many prominent Democrats of the time were vehemently opposed.

Jim Crow laws and the KKK? Yup, brought to you by the Democrats.

Yet, some people don't want to see it.

Let me add this. Want to fix the problem? Start by addressing the career politicians. Career politicians could care less what you or I or anyone else for that matter thinks. I'll use ol' John McCain again.

For the longest time, ol' Maverick was for "comprehensive immigration reform" aka amnesty for the millions of illegals in the US at that time. Come election time, ol' Johnny was "Mr. Tough on the Border, gotta lock it down, get it under control blah blah blah".

Five minutes after he was declared the winner in his reelection bid, it was right back to amnesty.

Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) is taking aim at socialist Big Apple mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani – with aerial ads urging fed-up New Yorkers to flee to Florida.

“Hate Socialism? Us too! Move 2 FL,” read the banners the Sunshine State senator will fly over New York beaches this weekend.

In a Florida flex, the ad continues: “WE HAVE BETTER BEACHES.”

Nothing new or mysterious about this. Drug shipments like this frequently wash ashore in Florida.

Or, we could avoid labels and generalizations based on labels and debate the actual policy proposals and records in office (in the US).
We cannot avoid labels because ideologies requires labels. If Zorhan Mamdani calls himself a 'Democratic Socialist', that is the label he put upon himself and by that virtue he demand we see him in that context.

US: IBM
SRK: Samsung
JPN: Mitsubishi
Germany: BMW

Those are just a few examples of companies from different capitalist countries that produced globally recognized brand names. But not only that, their products are actually in use.

Neither Venezuela nor Cuba claimed to be 'communist' but said 'socialist'. Same with East Germany: German Democratic Republic (GDR). No 'Marx' or 'communist' label there.

You said policies. So where are NKR, Venezuela, and Cuba in terms of national brand name recognition around the world?

Labels mean different things to different people. Simple textbook definitions often fail to convey the diversity of views within any particular political (or religious) spectrum. Whatever Mamdani (or any politician) chooses to call himself, it is his (their) policy proposals that affect the voter and therefore should be the primary focus of discussion and debate.

And I know little about the countries you mentioned so focus on the US, and contrast the unbridled capitalistic policies pursued by Republicans (and many Democrats) against Mamdani’s ‘socialist’ proposals, and see which would most positively impact the lives of the poor and middle class (i.e the majority).

But at least they are useful at giving an initial clue. For example, it would be ridiculous to associate Marxism with private property when the ultimate goal of Marxism is the abolition of private property, if not in idea then in practice.

The reason you guys here support Mamdani is because he is Muslim, not because he is smart. Mamdani want government run grocery stores and the Kansas City version is shiddy. Same for Cuba, the Soviet Union, NKR, and Venezuela.

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." Anonymous.

The only time that is applicable is in sports training where we frequently, but not always, get different outcomes.

Are you saying that we should treat the repetition of government run grocery stores as an athletic training regiment?

Mamdani was exposed, on video record, as talking about 'seizing the means of production'. That is Marxist language.

What is so mysterious about those countries?

In each CAPITALIST country listed, and they are just samples, there is at least one company that is globally consequential and famous. Can you name me a 'socialist' equivalent?

Mamdani beat Cuomo by at least 12 points. Are all those Muslims as well? The real problem is old farts like you—stuck in a Cold War mindset, still seeing the world through a Soviet lens. The next generation faces a whole new set of challenges, not like your days of hopping countries chasing opportunity. Time's moved on—even if you haven’t.

Curtis Sliwa Said Orthodox Jews Trying To ‘Take Over Your Community’
By: Times of Israel

Video from 2018 surfaced this week of Curtis Sliwa, the Republican mayoral candidate in New York City, describing Orthodox Jews as a drag on the US tax system.

“We’re not talking about poor, impoverished, disabled people who need help. We’re talking about able-bodied men who study Torah and Talmud all day and we subsidize them,” Sliwa says in the video. “And then all they do is make babies like there’s no tomorrow and who’s subsidizing that? We are."

Sliwa’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

We are supporting Mamdani after being fooled multiple times by Dems and GOP who both serve only the rich and the arms lobby. Neither party gives a crap about the middle class and certainly not the poor or the soaring debt or Americas future. Mamdani is a fresh face with a new approach. He is being slandered as another Lenin and Castro by the System that exists ultimately to protect and further enrich the rich.

Am talking about the muslims on this forum. Why are you guys supporting him? Do not tell me you give a shid about American middleclass, most of whom are white Christians who support Israel.

Too vague.

Fresh face but old (failed) ideas.

New approach? To what/where? More like the same disastrous ends like how the Soviets, Cuba, or NKR ended up. New paths to the same pit. Great...

All you have to do is give a few examples of socialist/communist countries that gave the world a few companies that have global recognition and use.

Why are you focusing on hazy ‘clues’ when Mamdani has openly stated what policies he wants to pursue? The conversation is over those openly stated policies, not random quotes or statements out of context that you see as some sort of ‘marxist clues’.
The reason you guys here support Mamdani is because he is Muslim, not because he is smart. Mamdani want government run grocery stores and the Kansas City version is shiddy. Same for Cuba, the Soviet Union, NKR, and Venezuela.
Thats more a reflection of your (Republican) mindset. You’re simply incapable of seeing Muslims without your biases. In any case, my support for Mamdani is because of his policies, not religion. If it wasn’t Mamdani, I would have supported Brad Lander (Jewish) and prior to even knowing about Mamdani, I supported Bernie Sanders (Jewish) and AOC - the common theme here are their policy proposals, not faith.

On the subject of actual policy - please explain why you don’t see his grocery store proposal as succeeding.
Mamdani was exposed, on video record, as talking about 'seizing the means of production'.
What’s the context of that quote? What was the broader conversation it was taken from? And most importantly, what policies has Mamdani proposed that align with that quote?
What is so mysterious about those countries?
There’s nothing ‘mysterious’ - but I am arguing that your attempt to try and compare Mamdani’s proposals for NYC with the systems in place in entire other nations is a flawed comparison intended to discredit Mamdani without actually debating or analyzing his policies. Every situation (country is unique) - whether socialist or capitalist, the success or failure of any policy depends upon a wide range of variables - institutional strength, corruption, poor implementation, poor enforcement or just a poorly designed plan. So arguing that X country has a ‘socialist label’ and did not implement Y policies successfully does not necessarily have any bearing on whether similar policies would fail or succeed elsewhere, in a different environment.

So, if you’re done deflecting, let me know if you actually want to discuss Mamdanis Policy proposals for NYC.
