Old Man's Corners

I like a squared away yard. Probably due to the German in me. Everything has to be neat and orderly.

Same with my vehicles. I hate shopping for new vehicles. Would rather go to the electric chair first. So I over-maintain them. Even my oldest vehicle, a 1999 Toyota Tacoma with coming up on 312K-miles still runs like a top.
Inform Toyota and you might get a prize

Tacomas are just rock solid. First one I owned, may have posted a representative photo in this very thread, was a 1981 SR-5 model. Easy to work on.

Mrs. AZ's current DD is a 2008 Tacoma in the Pre-Runner edition. V-6 engine. Only 165K-miles! Runs like a dream. It's actually coming up for an oil change soon.

Yeah, sounds like a German/Swiss! Actually, I am quite organized myself except I am still in the working age / working (okay, jobless right now but...) plus I don't see why I should put effort into my yard when hardly anyone ever sees the property.
"ToyotaThon": Can't go wrong on Toyota! I thought about getting a Tacoma once for carrying occasional bales of hay but then I learned to stuff a giant bale of hay into my tiny hatch back Toyota Yaris.

Speaking of "squared away", need to duck out for a bit now. Saw a couple things that need to be touched up when I was outside with the cat earlier.

Used to drive by Lee Majors' house in Eastern Kentucky quite often.

A quiet man who stays to himself. Unpretentious. A very decent human being.

Should find the old letter my grandfather wrote, listing all the families I am related to in that area to see if I may be distant cousin to the Six Million Dollar Man.

The answer is unlikely.IMG_20251001_112455681.jpg

Baseball playoffs are underway. Currently in the wildcard round. SD-CHC split a pair so far as have DET-CLE.

Going to watch the Red Sox-Yankees here in a bit. Game already in progress. Amazing how far the Yankees have fallen.

Yankees?

Look at my Detroit Tigers!

Series is tied, 1-1.

My grandfather used to be in the Detroit Tigers farm system back in the 1940s.

He and I attended some ten or more opening days at the old Tigers stadium.

When I worked at the City of Detroit Human Rights Department (that's another story) I got to inspect the lumber yard next to Tiger's stadium.

Asked the owner if he ever caught a home run over the stadium. He smiled and opened the bottom drawer of his desk, showing a half a dozen baseballs over the years.

Billy Martin was involved in a well-known 1969 incident at the Lindell A.C. bar in Detroit with Twins pitcher Dave Boswell, which ended in Martin beating up Boswell after a confrontation outside the bar. The Lindell A.C. was a blue-collar Detroit bar known as a gathering place for athletes and considered by some to be America's original sports bar.

LOL, every opening day, Grandpa and I will sit in this bar, waiting for something to happen.

Last week code enforcement officer pulled up to look at my lawn I didn't give a shit this year.

He looked at me. I shrugged my shoulders and pointed at the lot nextdoor.

Next day the city of Nowata was mowing the lot. Worker told me the town was issued the citation. LOL!
