Travel Trailer Club of the Midwest is a membership organization. We are a club organized for the pleasure, recreation, and fellowship associated with family RV camping.
TTCM was organized in 1964 to provide a place for members to enjoy seasonal activities with their RV whether by themselves or at club scheduled events. The club encourages the growth of recreational facilities and assists in the formation of regional club chapters. The club provides private facilities on its "member owned campgrounds" and publishes a monthly newsletter for its members.
Membership benefits include -- no reservation requirement, use of clubhouse, special camping events, holiday activities, affordable camping fees, no limit of rig size, and a dump station.
1974, my father started the Happy Hitchers, a travel trailer club, part of the TTCM.
The campground featured above is on land donated by a local farmer. Family and friends built this campground over several years. I can remember camping there every year with the Happy Hitchers. The club my father started grew to over 40 families. Booking campgrounds became increasingly difficult so we built our own.
From 1974 to well into the 1980s, one weekend a month, from April to October, the Happy Hitchers showed up at a campground from western Michigan to Quebec, northern Michigan to Indiana.
