McHinch Memorial Seamen’s Rest provided reading rooms and refreshments for seamen of all classes and creeds, as well as was a place for Sailors' Home.


Built by the Karachi Port Trust in 1904. An amount of Rs. 11,102 was raised to commemorate the late Mr. Alexander McHinch, who was a very well-known merchant of the city and was chairman of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce.

Further contributions came from the Port Trust Rs. 8,386, the Municipality Rs. 3,000, the Chamber of Commerce Rs. 3,350, and Government Rs. 5,000. It costed Rs. 30,833.

We find ourselves even more wealthy in South Asia till 1930s-40s 🙂

Here, if we see pictures of other non-South Asian members, being posted here, I find only this thread to maintain our "honour" 😀

Now We find new shops in place of our these old infrastructure now......

Here, I'm not sure how these foreign investment reduced our "Life Satisfaction rating" since then?
How's losing these old infrastructure of South Asia to new ones is justified?👎
