Kandawala building housed a car showroom on its ground floor . Two floors were occupied by American Embassy and IBA occupied another floor at its inception.

Later IBA,shifted to its present campus when its building was constructed in early 1960’s .

The Ganj Bazaar square of old Peshawar is visible in the picture below, all the old buildings are in their original condition.

There is a government school on the right hand side, and on the left hand side, there is a tandoor for kebabs, a grocery merchant, and a soup vendor, and on the corner is a pakora shop.
