In 1880, Lahore, then part of British India and now Pakistan, featured the iconic Government College, Lahore,

The College was constructed in 1877. With its Ravi river location, Lahore has served as the Punjab's provincial capital for centuries, experiencing architectural evolution under Mughal, Sikh, and British governance.

Its golden era occurred under Mughal rule, from 1520 to the early 18th century, when Lahore became famous as the 'city of gardens.'

This storied past is preserved within The Dunlop Smith Collection: Sir Charles Aitchison Album of Views in India and Burma.

In 1880s British India, Lahore (present-day Pakistan), the Lahore High Court is distinguished by a statue of Lord Lawrence, former Governor-General of India, with the inscription: 'Will you be governed by the pen or the sword?'

The celebrated Zamzamah gun, which played a pivotal role in the Battle of Puniput, is showcased outside the Lahore Museum, its fame further amplified by its appearance in Rudyard Kipling's 'Kim'.

This colossal bronze cannon occupies a prominent position along a major thoroughfare, having earned esteemed designations including 'The Hummer', 'The Roaring Lion,' and 'The Fire-Breathing Dragon'. An enduring proverb states, 'Who holds Zamzamah, controls the Punjab.' Furthermore, the Sikh community acknowledges it as the Bhangianwali Top, a testament to the Bhangi confederacy's legacy.
