Khojak Tunnel, Balochistan, 1888-91 (c).

Welsh miners, veterans of the Severn Tunnel working with Indian colleagues inside the Khojak Tunnel. Sixty miners were brought from Wales to assist with the construction of the tunnel through the dangerous soft strata of the North-West Frontier. The line was intended to reach Kandahar in Afghanistan but never crossed the frontier.
