I am sure there is more choice now but, in those days, the upper middle class kids went to Karachi Grammar School, while regular middle class kids like me went to one of the convent schools -- St, Paul's, St. Patrick's, or St. Joseph's (girls only) -- or to Parsi (Zoroastrian) run schools (BVS for boys and Mama Parsi for girls).

These schools provided the same quality education as KGS for a fraction of the cost. KGS had a bit of a reputation as a place for spoiled rich kids who already had a ticket to wealth anyway, LOL.

The kids from really wealthy families went to the Karachi American School but that was on a different level entirely.
