The substantial funds obtained from this illicit trade are funneled to various terrorist groups, particularly Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, which use it for terrorism, armed operations, and the spread of extremist ideology.

A large number among them are such fighters who are being considered for inclusion in the TTP and other armed groups.
