Use that as a bargaining chip to get the Afghan Taliban to give up support for TTP for good.

TTP call you Kafir Murtad Army and if TTA is supporting TTP, it means they agree with everything TTP thinks of Pakistan.

Treat TTA as not a legitimate government but a terrorist entity. Be clear about it, value Pakistan's interests over everything and worry less about what indian and other propaganda pieces would say.

Nobody is going to respect Pakistan as long as motor bike riding rag tag BLA can setup checkpoints and loot banks whenever they want to.

Talks and reasoning with these guys is a waste of time, they cannot return nor anything can be reversed with them. Backstabbing should be an unforgivable crime. A swift calculated powerful punch followed by humiliation is the only way they would respect and accept.

To be very honest we had no choice in that regard..

Ashraf Ghani's govt was not only hostile but also very incompetent.

Supporting TTA was us clutching at straws.

At the end of the day we aren't responsible for the routing of the Afghan National Army in less than a week of the US leaving.

That is totally upon them.

Pakistan's Afghanistan policy has only been a success when it has been a) unrepentantly hawkish and b) incredibly proactive.

Think of Ayub Khan spanking Afghans all the way to Kunar after the Bajaur Invasion in 1960, Liaquat Ali Khan bombing Afghans after the Zhob Incursion in 1949, Bhutto and Gen. Akhtar's "Kabul Must Burn" after the Afghan govt hijacked a Pakistani school bus, Zia toying with Afg as he saw fit - that is the successful blueprint.

Our Afg policy only went south when, 1988 onwards, we became hostage to ideologically-compromised folks, mullahs across the board, and spineless generals like Bajwa & Faiz. Appeasement & dialogue with those who claim half your country can never work."Kabul Must Burn" was a tremendous sucess. Happy to see it back as "Kandahar Must Burn"."


Completely agree with this gentlemen. Pakistan making deoband mullahs of Pakistan NWFP incharge of Afghan policy in 90's was disastrous. The end result was that while these pak mullahs were drinking koolaid ummah chuma and brainwashing Pakistanis. Meanwhile Afghan taliban was only doing chuma chumi to get back in power and become ethno nationalists next day aftr fall of Kabul regime, forgetting about any ummah days in Pakistan safe heavens.
