The Afgan problem needs time to solve. An immediate collapse of the Taliban may create more problems. Slowly eroding their power can enable a gradual buildup of the resistance within Afganistan. According to a Pak defense analyst, the Taliban regime may not last through 2027...

Afghanistan is a fragmented hellhole, no one entity has ever governed it fully, it is always different groups acting on different areas, even Talibs need a different faction of theirs on ground, they don't control everything from Kabul. Even if some districts fall it won't be a complete wipe off of Talibs, then they will become the warring party instead of the government. We must ensure our interests are secured, and make the Talibs behave, by repeatedly spanking them when needed.

Now - what is likely to happen?

Pakistan is doing the same divide and rule
Why? Because it knows(rightly) that the Taliban(read Afghan) in their governance model which is basically masculine jerking off is unsustainable and WILL COLLAPSE into rifts - they want to help it along.

What is happening with KP on back and forth accusations of each side saying "you failed" is a province more alienated from the center until it becomes permanent - and it seems very much that if we disregard the ethnofacists in PML(N) - the establishment at least are also blind to it in their usual "We are right" attitude.

This is decades worth of infra - livelihoods that will eventually be supplanted but never revived again.

No. What has happened with KPK is the crackdown on PTI, which was so extensive and so vicious that there is no prospect of reconciliation. As KPK is the power center of PTI and the ther parties don;t exist there anymore, IK managed to bring both nats supporters (who were liberals who didn;t like maulvisO) and JUI-F types (people who hated Nats).Everything you say has been done.

Thats what caused all this. You have imprisoned, beaten, and sent into hiding the people who could have put forth your position, and didn. And for what?

As for Afghanistan port? Good luck to them bypassing. Lines n map are easy to draw, but as you Americans found out when you tried to set up the NDN in the Afghan war, on the ground is very different.

Afghanistan can only meaningfully bypass Pakistan via Iran. We must enforce a blockade on that route as well, interdict trade on the roads, making sure nothing reached Kabul from there, also close the air bridge.....

Unlike Pakistan, India did not waste its hard earned money on imports. They shut themselves off when they first had to go to the IMF and did things the hard way. They did not base their economy on being a mercenary state within a state.

Now they have millions of dollars to spare for activities. Such as sending 'humanitarian aid' as in things that go boom, to Afghanistan. As much as they can fill in their C-17s.

Once the Taliban figure out how to cheaply mass produce one way attack drones (they have already started using them) they will be able to impart huge costs on Pakistan and force it to fight on two fronts. Same formula as Houthis.

There is nothing Pakistan can really do about this. In the beginning I expect them to brush off the increased losses as being orchestrated by PTI/Imran Khan but then it'll be too much to ignore.

Even if Pakistan is able to intercept everything that comes in, it will still be enough to kill businesses and investor confidence in that entire region.
