PA Options against Indian Armour - ATGMs on MANPADS & Attack Gunship Helicopter - News & Discussions

What makes this platform "5th Generation" ?

At this point, Pakistan should have developed its own version of Javelin/NLAW, but all we see if iterations of the same platform. There is a lack of real core R&D capabilities in Pakistan as demonstrated by many projects that Pakistan did a TOT on, but then was not able to further develop new contemporary platforms.
It's not a iteration it's a completely new missile and nothing like the HJ8/BS.

Also 5th generation is marketing jargon.

Development of the new version of apfsds DU round with enhanced penetration has been completed. I suspect it's based on the tungsten Sejjil apfsds they tested years back. Bad news for IA armor. DU rounds on average achieve 20-50mm more penetration compared to tungsten depending on other factors such as gun chamber pressure angle of fire and LOS among others. Will be standardized on all mbts. This thing could achieve well over 650mm at 0 degree at 2000m.

How many T-59 and Type-69 are still in service with Army ? What’s the future of T-80 UD.

Nothing, no amount of training, experience, and personal weaponry will prepare Indian armour vecihles or 72s T90s or their soldiers dodging coordinated drone swarms carrying anti-tank explosives wrapped in ball bearings and cluster munitions. Hope our Pakistani Military is learning lessons from Russian/ Ukraine war on effectiveness of drones vs Armour and infantry there.

Pakistan Army needs a battalion of FPV drones

a army of soldiers who are experts in FPV attacks against infantry

intriguing question:

firstly, your assumption may not be correct:

1. why would they insert tank columns, given the presence of FPV drones?

2. Can they destroy our assets, without piling all their assets on Indian border?
in other words, do they even need to gather all the tanks to take our land?

answer to these is sadly no:

1. drones is a defensive weapon
2. they have new artillery shells, which have extended range (based on some new kind of miniaturized Brahmos engine!)

so, with these new shells, they can take out our assets, without the need to taking them on directly!
(and of course, they too have wide variety of drones as well!)

so, right question would be, how deeply and for how long, can our smallest attack weapon hit, that too at cheaper cost!

unfortunately, drones can never achieve this!

1. Under 300 mostly with FC not in Frontline.
2. UD is being maintained through local and downstream industry. 6td 1/2 series is also being maintained/ rebuilt.

And those Type-59/69 which are in service (ISPR training videos show them many times…) are only for training purposes? What’s the plan about drones ?
