THINK TANK: CONSULTANT
I wont name names, but recently a critical government organization in "X country" was hacked by its own cybersecurity institution as part of black penetration test. An SMS system was hijacked and the entity sent jibberish sms texts with the name of "Critical government organization" to lot of people. An example would be NADRA sms system getting hacked and they sending you sms with questionable links. Once I read the report, it was eye opening, the SMS system was somehow exposed to internet side and they found it while they were scanning for open ports. Did the classic sql injection sort of attack. Took root control of the system.Yeah. Someone else was also confusing Beidou for a sat system. It is a GNSS system with an extremely limited SMS system for emergency relief. Did you consider how easy it would be to spoof a text message? It is not secure.
This would have started the international incident if sms from government organzation name sent to International leaders.
Qatar was boycotted by Saudi and UAE and Bahrain for a similar reasons as their news agency was hacked and put controversial article about Saudi.
