PAF Conducts successful test of indigenously developed FAAZ BVRAAM

Block 1's ALWAYS had BVR capability with SD-10As when they were upgraded to Block II standards(without the refuelling probe).

I don't understand why people think that the Block 1 airframes have no BVR capability when we have seen soo many pictures of Block 1's with SD-10s

The FAAZ BVR does not bring BVR capability to the JF17, it already had it. It just adds a different type of BVR....
only to confuse the enemy

The absolute most fascinating thing over the past couple of days has been how not a single Indian member has come forward to congratulate Pakistan, despite being glued to this thread 24/7. It boggles the mind.
the real fascinating thing is the simplcity of your thought to expect them congratulate us on our success

Ofcourse, SD-10s were the very first BVR weapon of PAF in late 2000s. (2009ish i guess). I don't think anyone believes that block1s weren't BVR. That will be really stupid given massive amount of documentary evidence from late 2000s onwards.

Faaz adds several benefits on top.
20+ KM increased range, different seeker / updated avionics and on top local production capability. BVR missiles have a shelf life. The old batch of SD-10As could be entering into phase-out period.

BVR missile effectiveness is determined by several factors including range, speed, guidance accuracy, energy retention, targeting information, and resistance to electronic warfare.

Since we don’t have access to official technical documentation or independently verified performance data for the Fa’az missile, any comparison with the SD-10 or PL-15 remains largely speculative.

My question is: Does Pakistan have the technological and industrial capability to develop a reliable, accurate, and electronically resilient BVR missile system that can be fully integrated with its fighter aircraft and airborne surveillance network?

It definitely has. If management issues are sorted then the potential Pakistan has is much more.

The state organisations like Nescom/(NDC, AWC, MTC etc), PAC, NASTP, PAEC, KRL and more have tens of thousands of man-power (engineers / scientists), they got enormous setups, machinery. There's some private emerging companies too.

Obviously, there could be certain components which we'd prefer to import.

I am 100% certain, this missile is an upgrade over SD-10/ R-77. These missiles are quite old now. We are not at the league to develop missiles that can match performance of latest missiles by China or US. For very cutting edge, we'll keep importing super expensive PL-15 (or whatever future version become available). PL-15/E is atleast 1.5 to 2 million dollar a piece. For reference Meteor is 2.4 million dollars a piece. You fire a missile and it hit nothing, you just wasted 2 millions dollars. (and people here wants missile trucks to keep firing missiles as if we had free infinite supply).

The local production is important, We have significant fleet that can use locally produced missiles as old SD-10s reaches their EOL. Secondly, I am 100% sure, one day maybe soon enough we'll see FAAZ missile series onboard UCAVs and its ground based variants for SAMs. We needed local solution for mass production. We definitely cannot buy/import entire stock off the shelf. You have to start at some point for achieving local capabilities. You cannot expect to develop a PL-15 at your first attempt.

BTW, reverse engineering or atleast influencing from a design, is a very real thing. It happens around the world. Even US do (LUCAS recent example).. China has progressed massively from this approach. Entire line of their first initial products used to match strikingly similar to existing products by Russia / West. I'd certainly not mind if any of our designs are influenced from a proven product as long as the product works as expected and we can achieve local production. We just have to make best use of time and resources.

This depends on the level at which you define the issue—or, in other words, the depth to which you probe the capabilities of an industrial system.

I support Pakistan in delving deeply into these weapon technologies. But the ability to have "truly independent industry" is a completely different matter.

Why do you want Indians to congratulate you? Are they obligated to congratulate you?

Need to let go off this India-centric mindset. The world does not revolve around India or Indians.

No

Its mostly a sd10 under license

Sad and unfortunate to see the mention of the "Field Marshal". This missile will be the product of at a decade or more of development work by many hundreds of professionals well before the "Field Marshal" entered the scene.

At times like this the "Field Marshal" should learn to temper his narcissistic personality disorder syndrome so that others should not suffer it or sully the achievements of others.....

Do we know the seeker and motor's origin?

Given Pakistan's experience with rocket and ballistic missiles technology to date, we can safely assume it is home grown.

As for the seeker, fair question but i would be surprised if that too is not also home grown.

Common

Are we going to play this game
What was anza??
Do you think Pakistan has any industry to develop the seekers and electronics

No its not.
