PAF F-16 | Discussions

PAF has that for Jf17 too…

PAF has enough infrastructure to support the f16 fleet it operate now., it is not going to waste money on supporting infrastructure capacity and people on planes that don’t exist….
The infrastructure that went into the F-16 includes decades of institutional memory, from personnel who understand how the platform works, SOPs, maintenance facilities, etc. It's an overhead that has at this point been paid for, making any net new addition to it more affordable than an entirely new fighter platform. Those new fighter platforms will come, but they are likely much farther out, and in the lead up the PAF will likely build on the fighters it already has: J-10CE, JF-17, and F-16. The only thing that matters for the F-16 is US willingness to sell, but otherwise, PAF is game for new-built birds.

So on one hand you're saying we can't even buy JF17s without Chinese loans, and then on the other hand we have a spare USD10-18bn lying around to replace our Viper fleet? Come on man, at least have a consistent line of argument here.
did i say we'd finance a viper buy?

I don't doubt that the PAF would love more Vipers, but the question is one of funding. It's difficult to see acquisitions of new built Vipers alongside further Blocks of JF17 and J10. Back when the Block 52s were ordered, it took an earthquake to drastically cut the number of orders from 55 to 18. If finding is that fragile any major economic shock would put to rest any new Vipers.

What I will guarantee you that there is no logical or financial path to where PAF will buy new build F16s. No goverment is going to take that big a risk on weapons procurement from the USA that will need to withstand multiple changes of USA governments.

None. It will be J10Ces, JF17C until J35As turn up.

I have no doubt in my mind about that.

Pakistan wouldn't mind some 40 used f16s, cheaper price, upgrade and service from Turkey and quick replacement for F7PGs. Then over the years chase Usa for advance upgrade kits, possibly dream of v upgrade. Regarding brand new F16s, they're too expensive, I rather go for more J10CEs.

Well clearly you and the PAF are at loggerheads then. Perhaps you should make them your guarantees, because for all intents and purposes, the signalling is pretty clear and this dsca notif holds some very interesting info.

Like what?

If you think you see something, then so will the IAF given its a public document so it’s not like you are holding a secret from the IAF by withholding anything here ..….

Ah the good old love for our F-Sola is revived again with back to back support packages, sometimes I think Americans play with our emotions, this thread is evidence of how " ugli pakrai tu pura haath pakar liya ", sustainment packages, and few new systems and some people already dreaming about F-16V and block 72's, next year is mid term election and if Republicans lose then all of those upgrades and packages can be canceled by a much better Indian lobby. We keep hoping for more used F-16's that didn't work, we didn't get those remaining F-16 block 52's instead we get Wheat aka Aataa for the money, PAF F-16 obsession is kinda similar to dialog with TTP, we keep hoping for a better result when we engage but in the end all we get is nothing but empty promises and set backs...

Another thing no one is talking about that how long will it take to "Upgrade" the 70+ fleet? with all training and system integration ? I guess it will be at least few years ? more or less 5 ? and in 5 years we will have more fighters to replace, threat perception from India has increased 10 times, any Attack on Indian soil can lead to either a skirmish or a war where we are shooting missiles, but we are told we are waiting for funds to get more J-10CE, but spending 1.3 billion of upgrades for F-16's which may happen or get canceled by next administration, with no guarantees for used/older F-Shola or new ones, but let us all rejoice that F-shola is getting some upgrades.

The devil lies in the details...
