I know but after China who can we really rely on?

Is Turkeys KAAN jet really a feasible choice for Pakistan with it's western engine? What about the chains not strings that will come attached with new F-16s.

There is also some benefit in every jet, SAM, radar and AEWC we operate being able to sync with each other easily.

Turkey itself is going for F35, KAAN is pretty far in the future and will be tier 2 in stealth

Don't forgot love of PAF for F16 ..

we have the full infrastructure, highly trained pilots and ground staff, technicians, etc. It costs a lot of time and money to build all that, it would be cheaper to upgrade the 16's and utilize them for another 10/15 years

We bought 500 C5's which are now almost obsolete in the sense that they have lost the range advantage to SD10 and PL15. Is there anyway we can repurpose them for SAM use?

I would not say obsolete, you take away the (32!?) Rafales I have left and the C5 can still take on most of the IAF

The C5s are also still useful for taking on the bigger drones/UAVs that India has like the Heron drones, low flying helicopters(Apaches etc) and other aviation assets. There is still military value in them outside of a long range BVR knife fight etc.

Probably not because C-5s require F-16 launcher's specific configuration and software enablement to launch. But we have some very smart people these days who might come up with something.

The deal depends on a few conditions, and it’s will be brought up in Pakistan’s parliament. That’s why the Supreme Court stepped in to secure the two-thirds majority. Establishment has played their cards, let’s see the outcome, keeping Imran Khan in jail is probably part of the plan too.

AIM120C5s are still easily the second best and most combat-proven missiles in the PAFs Arsenal, I would personally rank them fairly above SD-10s in capability, range isn’t everything.

Taking away the F16s BVR capability will take away 1/3rd of the PAFs entire BVR capability. There are more BVR capable F-16s in the PAF than Jets equipped with PL15s, it is still a major part of the PAFs edge.

C5s are still good to mop up Jaguars/Mig 21s and Ah64s.......with Jeff BLKIII and J10s leading the attack on Rafales/Mirage/SuMKIs

I hope so but even a delay this time around for J-35s will be fatal.

I wonder if the PAF's just trying to secure the Ozgur upgrade for the Block-52s, and leave it at that. Doing so would unlock the F-16's long-range strike capabilities (via Turkish SOWs) as well as provision a radar and EW/ECM system that isn't directly known to the US.

The Turks had provided a loan for the T129s in 2018; if that is still available, Pakistan can route it to an F-16 upgrade, leaving both the J-35AE route free while also keeping the F-16s at-par with the rest of the fleet.

IMO, once upgraded, I'd push for allocating the Block-52s in support of the PN. The CFTs offer a solid range and endurance boost, and Ozgur upgrades would make them a credible force against the Rafale Ms.

If we upgrade our F16s with V kits or have some used frames upgrade them too.. we will have numbers games (but cant trust or relay on US due to past experiences) .. but can hope PAF can get some positive form them..

This wait or delay will mature the J35 further... Its still newborn...
We have limited funds cant afford for experiment induction...

Take example PAF start looking J10 when its J10B was in earlier stage of induction... We actually inducted it when J10C actually matured ..
