This blogger used to be an Air Force ground crew member.
That is the nature of millatary news, you can never be sure, but you can only sense check it, and this particular case it makes perfect sense if you connect the dots. Here are the dots:
1. 2014: European Common Radar System tech demonstrator debuted but not funded.
2. 2016: Flew for the first time amid funding being made available via the Kuwait deal.
3. 2017: Further development subsidised by the Qatar deal.
4. 2021-2022: IOC on mk-0 as first deliveries began to Kuwait and Qatar.
5. 2022: modern Chinese AESA exported for the first time.
6. 2024: Alleged engagements in BVR regime take place during Zilzal.
7. 2025: Qatar ofloads Typhoons in second hand deal with Turkey.
8. All this time in Europe: Spain and Germany hold-off for more advance GaN based mk-1, UK never orders mk-0 and holds off waiting for mk-2.

Conclusion: Somewhere in the last 2 or 3 years it became abduntantly clear to the world (not just the US), how far ahead Chinese tech was and they took observable steps to say the same.

p.s. I should add:
7b: PAF sweeps the floor against another European AESA equipped medium fighter.

There is too much false information on the Internet nowadays, and I have never been able to gather enough reliable information. For example, Pakistan achieved a major victory. It was not until much later that China's authoritative official media confirmed this news.

Therefore, I cannot draw a reliable conclusion.

A retired PAF official claimed that we had a drone lock on to an A50 Awacs on the ground... It travelled so far in side India that it was possible to destroy it on ground... So S400 would have been in range as well....
I believe this story is true that we had such an opportunity, as Indian Air chief talks about the threat of drones. At 2:00 , he talks about how a low cost drone can destroy a high value asset, nothing has more value than an AWACS.....

Hi,

PAF should have learnt its lesson---but no---.

They should have let the Eurofighter win some. Too many wins are not good---.

It is like showing your hand in a card game.

I hope Pakistan is ahead of India in terms of manufacturing drones with the help of China and Turkey? That battle i think India cant win either.

I agree with your views.
The issue for the Su-30MKI fleet is that, despite its strengths in kinematics and payload, it is increasingly operating against an environment dominated by sensor fusion, network-centric warfare, and long-range AESA-supported BVR combat.

From a PAF perspective, if Pakistan adds another two squadrons of J-10Cs along with around 50 JF-17 B3, it could maintain a much superior counter-air capability even as India inducts additional Dassault Rafale squadrons toward 2030.

The introduction of the J-35 would obviously shift the balance more decisively, but even without it, the PAF will still retain a competitive edge in the air-superiority role through better BVR integration and force concentration.

Where PAF still has a noticeable gap is in the interdiction and deep-strike mission capability, especially involving heavy ordnance delivery. That likely requires at least two additional J-10 squadrons armed with long-range ALBMs and Taimoor to fully replace the aging Mirage / ROSE fleet currently soldiering on with those duties.

In an ideal world, and yes, this is wishful thinking Saudi/Qatar funding for a package of 36 F-15EX Eagle and 72 F-16 Block 72s would significantly strengthen our airpower for any future “Operation SSA” (“Save Saudi Ass” 😄) and we can justify it as necessary for interoperability with Saudi & Qatari AFs :D.
If it was upto you , probably , you would have asked the Chinese to shove their J 35s ... you feel so comfortable in the Yankees lap .
