PAF J-10CE News Updates and Discussions part ll

Firstly PAF needs to urgently get those J-35s. For months and years now, we were told that PAF teams were already getting training in China. I SINCERELY HOPE IT IS TRUE.

Fifth generation fighter jets are expensive to purchase and operate. For the price of a single J-35, Pakistan can easily acquire 2 J-10CEs. Now someone will argue that J-35 offers more than a J-10C. This is right up to some level but not entirely. Pakistan is not using J-10C as an independent platform. Pakistan is using it as part of a whole network. This increases the lethality of J-10C alot.

So don't worry about J-35. Just need to increase J-10CEs to like 64+.

I'm not sure more J-10C's if & when acquired would necessarily be announced. Induction ceremony was done in 2022. Additions might not be announced right away.......though we might learn of it later.
We are not announcing additional JF-17 Blk3 inductions either, so it seems.

I think it’s a very real possibility that Pakistan in the future will face a multi front war

From India , Afghanistan , Iran(if it falls ) and Israel

Pakistan now needs to decide its strategy on how to fight a two or three front war
This sounds existential if all three attack they all getting nuked together.

Exactly. Even if we have ordered more J-10CEs, you will still don't know about it. So let's not worry about these things. Let's just hope that the planners are doing everything in their power to strengthen PAF.

But I have to say it’s one of the most beautiful aircraft, maybe even close to the F-16

And I love the F-16

The Indus Dragon

Lavi project had a roots from F-16 and J-10 is partially based on on Lavi project, It doesn't matter that Chinese saying that J-10 is not based on Lavi and based on their earlier CAC cancelled project named J-9 but I strongly believe J-10 has a roots from Lavi project

Sorry but J-35 is not equal to 2x J-10CE. The difference between them is far greater. J-35 would be effective against as many J-10CE or Rafale or any 4.5 gen fighter as it has missiles. At the moment, 4.5 gens simply cannot be effective against 5th gen at all in single dimension or 1 vs 1 style confrontations. The only way to make 4.5 gens effective against far smaller number of 5th gen is via networks that PAF simply does not have.

If it is true that PAF is able to purchase 2x J-10CE for the price of a single J-35, that is a bargain and then some. J-35 would wipe out more than 2x 4.5 gens with relative ease. Even if the price is 3x, it is worth it from effectiveness perspective. Of course, no airforce of government can afford to go broke by leaning on 5th gens alone but if it has the keys to J-35, it should certainly purchase some as great force multipliers.

It doesn't work like that.

We don't have to buy J-35 just because it can eat 5 rafales or J-10Cs. We only need to buy it if our current assets are unable to be effective against enemy fighter jets. Now, is that the case ?

Answer is NO. We successfully demonstrated that we know how to tackle Indian rafales using our J-10Cs. So if J-10C is able to counter the top most fighter jet of India, would you rather Increase it's numbers or just buy symbolic 2 squadrons of J-35 which won't be able to cover the whole country neither would you be able to afford in larger numbers ?

So 2 J-10C for price of one J-35, makes sense. Technically, as well as financially.

I think PAF is waiting for the WS19 to be more reliable and mature, just like what it did in the J10 procurement.

As for F16v, it’d be better to ask Turks to upgrade your current F16 fleet, as our Turkish members always claim they have the ability.
Nope the upgrades if at all will happen at kamra

Itan will fall but not before it helps us over come our multiple external enemies

J-10CE Vigorous Dragon/Firebird

J-10CE was developed in the 2020s as the export variant of J-10C. Its first customer is Pakistani AF who needs an advanced fighter aircraft to counter the Indian AF's Rafale. A contract of 20 was signed in June 2021. In February 2022 that the first batch of J-10CEs (01 batch, S/N 22-1xx) ordered by PAF was undergoing test flight at CAC. The aircraft features an AESA radar, a JF-17 style light/medium gray camouflage, new UHF/VHF antennas, and a narrow frame wide angle holographic HUD. It is also powered by a WS-10B turbofan engine but without the dorsal datalink antenna. It was reported that the first batch of six J-10CEs (101-106) was delivered on March 4, 2022, each armed with 2 PL-10E and 4 PL-15E AAMs. The aircraft can also carry a variety of precision guided weaponry including the new CM-400AKG supersonic ASM/AShM and IREK anti-radiation glide bomb. The pilot has been equipped with HMDS to enhance his situation awareness. Additional 6 were reportedly delivered in September 2022. Images released in August 2022 indicated that the a few J-10CEs carry a new dark green/light blue color scheme, probably for the maritime attack role carrying C-802A or CM-400AKG AShMs. All remaining J-10CEs (23-1xx) are expected to be delivered by 2023. In November 2024 it was rumored that a new batch of J-10CE was built. The aircraft can carry a YINGS-IIIA designation pod and have a twin missile pylons (slightly staggered) mounted underneath the centerline station carrying two SD-10A or PL-15E AAMs. It was reported that J-10CE scored its first air-to-air kills on May 7, 2025 when it likely shot down multiple IAF fighter aircraft with the PL-15E long-range AAM over Kashmir. The downed aircraft may include Rafale, Su-30MKI and Mirage 2000. This victory, if confirmed, could significantly boost it export prospect on the international market. Several countries including Bangladesh, Uzbekistan and Indonesia have also showed strong interests in J-10CE. A recent image (April 2025) suggested that the J-10CE 02 batch is being constructed at CAC for an unspecified foreign customer (Uzbekistan?). The latest rumor (October 2025) claimed that the initial batch of 24 ordered by the Uzbekistani AF is ready for delivery.

Dear Fatman17-the Moderator,
Here in Toronto,
I was reading that Pakistan is buying 100 more J-10CE jet fighters from China within a few months ?
Any update ?

In my modeling, I found out that it will take 16 JF17C to balance out 6 F35.

The J‑10C is the only platform that makes immediate sense for Pakistan right now, which is why its induction is both necessary and imminent. The Pakistan Air Force requires at least four full squadrons to stabilize its force structure over the next decade.

The J‑35A remains three to four years away from export maturity, while the KAAN (under the PFX timeline) is realistically six to eight years out. As for Turkish F‑16 Block 30/40 aircraft, any transfer would require U.S. Congressional approval, which remains highly unlikely. The United States does have roughly 45 surplus F‑16s (Block 25/30/40/42), but these would only become available between 2028 and 2030.

Meanwhile, India has already signed a $40‑billion Rafale package and is acquiring 18–20 additional fly‑away aircraft to replace the unit lost during the 2025 engagement with Pakistan.
